Efficient designs of double-pass curved solar air heaters

Renewable Energy, 2020
Abstract Recent research has shown that flat plate double-pass solar air heaters (DPSAH) exhibit higher thermal performance compared to conventional flat plate single-pass solar air heaters (SPSAH). However, scientific literature on design and performance evaluation of a curved DPSAH is scarce.

Environmental Kuznets curves—real progress or passing the buck?

Ecological Economics, 1998
Abstract Recent research has examined the hypothesis of an environmental Kuznets curve (EKC)—the notion that environmental impact increases in the early stages of development followed by declines in the later stages. These studies have focused on the relationship between per capita income and a variety of environmental indicators.

A Single-Pass Scheme for the Mean Curvature Motion of Convex Curves

2008
A new algorithm to solve the stationary level set equation describing the Mean Curvature Motion of convex curve is presented. This algorithm is a single pass scheme obtained by coupling the min-max type discrete operator for the MCM equation with the fast marching level set for the Eikonal equation.

Lattice hydrodynamic model for traffic flow on curved road with passing

Nonlinear Dynamics, 2017
In order to investigate the effect of passing upon traffic flow on curved road, in this paper, an extended one-dimensional lattice hydrodynamic model for traffic flow on curved road with passing is proposed. The stability condition is obtained by the use of linear stability analysis. The result of stability analysis shows that passing behavior plays an

Static pressure–volume curves of the respiratory system: were they just a passing fad?

Current Opinion in Critical Care, 2008
The aim of this article is to describe the physiologic utility, correlation with lung morphology, difficulties in interpretation and current clinical applications of static respiratory system pressure-volume curves at the bedside in patients with acute lung injury or acute respiratory distress syndrome.Complex interpretation of pressure-volume curves ...

The Shortest Path for a Point Passing Through Obstacles Represented by Quadratic Curves

17th Design Automation Conference: Volume 2 — Computer-Aided Design, Mechanical Systems Simulation, and Analysis, Mechanisms, and Robotics, 1991
Abstract In this paper we present an algorithm for the search of the shortest path through a set of obstacles approximated by circles and ellipses. A set of heuristics is developed to eliminate obstacles that do not affect the search for the shortest path. The A algorithm is used during the path generation phase to direct work toward the

Steerable Tip Enables Expanding Robot to Pass Sigmoid Curve

Proceedings of the 16th Hamlyn Symposium on Medical Robotics 2024
Colonoscopy is a powerful tool for the early detection of colorectal diseases. State-of-the-art colonoscopy, yet effective, often elicits discomfort among individuals, deterring some from undergoing this crucial diagnostic procedure. In addition, advancing the colonoscope up to the ileocecal valve demands a high level of expertise of the physician. The
