Modified Key-Curve-Method for Determination of Dynamic Crack Resistance Curves

2008
Dynamic J-†a curves might be constructed by means of the results of various low-blow tests, where the experimental settings of the instrumented Charpy-V test are chosen in order to assure significant crack growth due to impact loading on the one hand and in order to avoid complete rupture on the other hand.

Ancillary solutions for curved crack stress analysis

Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 1997
Summary: A method to generate a weight function for use in the stress analysis of arbitrarily shaped cracks with arbitrary boundary conditions and mixed mode loading is presented. The method only involves the numerical resolution of a singular integral equation with a Cauchy-type kernel whose singularity is straight forward to remove. The generation of

Mixed mode crack growth in curved beams with radial edge crack

Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics, 2001
Mixed mode crack growth in curved beams with radial edge crack is predicted by the prominent S-theory. An improved simple engineering method for obtaining approximate stress intensity factors of curved cracked beams is also used. It takes into account the elastic crack tip stress singularity while using the elementary beam theory.

Kinematics of damage zone accompanying curved crack

International Journal of Fracture, 1991
This paper presents a methodology of a quantitative characterization of the kinematics of evolution of a damage zone surrounding the tip of a slowly propagating crack. On the basis of the Crack Layer Theory, the evolution of the damage zone is modelled as a combination of a few elementary motions: translation, rotation, isotropic expansion and ...

Edge‐Crack Resistance Curves in Supercritical Ceramics

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1992
The growth of edge cracks in zirconia‐reinforced ceramics is analyzed theoretically with the „supercritical” transformation model. The injection of an initial edge crack by a damage process is modeled in an approximate manner. Subsequent crack growth under the application of a remote tensiles stress models the evolution of the ...

On fracture analysis of cracked curved beams

Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2018
This paper focuses on evaluating stress intensity factors (SIFs), for a curved beam of circular cross section with an external ring crack, applying an approach on the basis of estimating the strain energy release rate. The out of plane vibration of the beam is investigated.
