Certain characteristics of the straining of curved rods
Strength of Materials, 1991The solution of the boundary-value problem for the region of the transverse cross section of a curved rod is investigated in relation to the function characterizing the warping of cross sections in elastic torsion. Analytical solutions are given for two problems involving the stressed-strained state of a rod whose axis is curved along a circular arc ...

Wave Propagation in Prestressed Curved Rods
Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1980The vibration and harmonic wave propagation in prestressed curved rods is theoretically studied. The equations of spatial elastic rods subjected to a generally deformation-dependent loading are employed and are specialized to prestressed planar circular arch equations.

Asymptotic analysis of elastic curved rods
Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, 2006AbstractWe consider a sequence of curved rods which consist of isotropic material and which are clamped on the lower base or on both bases. We study the asymptotic behaviour of the stress tensor and displacement under the assumptions of linearized elasticity when the cross‐sectional diameter of the rods tends to zero and the body force is given in the ...

In this paper, we present a mathematical approach of thin curved rods within the framework of linear elasticity. We show that any displacement of a curved rod is the sum of a Bernoulli-Navier displacement and residual displacements (including shearing and warping in the most complete decomposition).
