Germination ecology, emergence and host detection in Cuscuta campestris

Weed Research, 2005
SummaryTrials were carried out to study the germination and dormancy of Cuscuta campestris Y. (dodder) seeds and factors influencing the success of early parasitisation of sugarbeet. Primary dormancy can be removed by seed scarification. Germination was negligible at 10°C and optimal at 30°C, while it was not influenced by light.

Biochemical changes in the developing seeds of Cuscuta campestris

Physiologia Plantarum, 1980
Abstract Metabolic changes in developing Cuscuta campestris Yunck seeds were studied with respect to TCA‐soluble phosphate fractions, nucleic acids and the enzymes, viz, acid and alkaline phosphatase, neutral and alkaline FDPase, starch phosphorylase, α‐amylase ribonuclease, deoxyribonuclease and phytase.

A cofactor requirement for polygalacturonase from Cuscuta campestris

Phytochemistry, 1999
The occurrence of a polygalacturonase in tissue of Cuscuta is reported. The enzyme activity requires the presence of a cofactor, which can be removed by dialysis. The cofactor is heat stable and extractable in 80% methanol or in petroleum ether. It appears to be a low molecular weight peptide, since its activity is lost on incubation with proteinase K ...

Culture of pectin methylesterase and polyphenoloxidasein Cuscuta campestris

Phytochemistry, 1999
Abstract A method for growing Cuscuta campestris aseptically in vitro was developed.Polyphenoloxidase activity in extracts of Cuscuta was partially characterised and ways forinhibiting it during extraction were determined. Pectin methylesterase activity in extracts wasdemonstrated.

Metabolic and functional distinction of the Smicronyx sp. galls on Cuscuta campestris

Planta, 2018
The weevil gall contains two distinct regions, differing in hydrolytic and antioxidant enzymes activity and profiles, which is also functionally distinct from the non-infected Cuscuta stems. Weevils of the genus Smicronyx are gall-forming insects, widely distributed on parasitic flowering plants of the genus Cuscuta.

Cuscuta campestris (field dodder).

2021
Abstract The parasitic weed C. campestris is native to North America but has been introduced around the world and become a weed in many countries. It is by far the most important of the dodders, perhaps because of its wide host range. This ensures that there is a wide range of crop seeds that may be contaminated, and in which it may be ...
