Formalizing the Panarchy Adaptive Cycle with the Cusp Catastrophe [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The panarchy adaptive cycle, a general model for change in natural and human systems, can be formalized by the cusp catastrophe of René Thom\u27s topological theory.

Origami‐Inspired Structural Design for Aquatic‐Terrestrial Amphibious Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a lightweight amphibious origami robot actuated by a single shape memory alloy wire. A rigid foldable origami structure with displacement amplification enables efficient terrestrial crawling and aquatic swimming. The addition of fan‐shaped units allows controllable turning in both environments.

Intelligent Maintenance Review for Robots: Multimodal Information, Deep Diagnosis and Embodied Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This review maps the methods to monitor robots’ health by fusing vibration, sound, control signals, vision, force, and oil information with artificial intelligence. It identifies deep learning, transfer learning, digital twins, and physics‐informed models as key methodological pathways enabling earlier diagnosis, safer human–robot collaboration, and ...

Using Machine Learning for the Precise Experimental Modeling of Catastrophe Phenomena: Taking the Establishment of an Experimental Mathematical Model of a Cusp-Type Catastrophe for the Zeeman Catastrophe Machine as an Example

open access: yesMathematics
When catastrophe theory is applied to the experimental modeling of catastrophe phenomena, it is impossible to know in advance the corresponding relationship and mapping form between the parameters of the actual catastrophe mathematical model and the ...

Use of Cusp Catastrophe for Risk Analysis of Navigational Environment: A Case Study of Three Gorges Reservoir Area. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
A water traffic system is a huge, nonlinear, complex system, and its stability is affected by various factors. Water traffic accidents can be considered to be a kind of mutation of a water traffic system caused by the coupling of multiple navigational ...

Ion Superhighways in a Hierarchical Polymer‐Ceramic Membrane Enable Rapid and Selective Lithium Extraction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A flexible PDMS‐LATP polymer‐ceramic membrane creates lithium‐ion “superhighways” for rapid and selective extraction from complex brines. The amorphous PDMS matrix suppresses nonselective leakage and stabilizes the ceramic network, while LATP provides preferential Li+ conduction.

An Effector TaCRVP From Tuta Absoluta Oral Secretion Impairs H2O2‐Mediated Plant Defense by Targeting Tomato SlCAT2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The Tuta absoluta salivary effector TaCRVP subverts tomato immunity by hijacking host catalase SlCAT2. Through a sophisticated dual mechanism, TaCRVP simultaneously promotes SlCAT2 tetramerization for activation and blocks its SlAdBiL‐mediated degradation for stabilization.
