Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Affine extension of noncrystallographic Coxeter groups and quasicrystals
Unique affine extensions $H^{\aff}_2$, $H^{\aff}_3$ and $H^{\aff}_4$ are determined for the noncrystallographic Coxeter groups $H_2$, $H_3$ and $H_4$. They are used for the construction of new mathematical models for quasicrystal fragments with 10-fold ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Long-lasting intense cut-off lows to become more frequent in the Northern Hemisphere
Cut-off Lows are slow-moving mid-latitude storms that are detached from the main westerly flow and are often harbingers of heavy and persistent rainfall.

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Diffraction of return time measures
Letting $T$ denote an ergodic transformation of the unit interval and letting $f \colon [0,1)\to \mathbb{R}$ denote an observable, we construct the $f$-weighted return time measure $\mu_y$ for a reference point $y\in[0,1)$ as the weighted Dirac comb with

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Pattern Equivariant Cohomology and Theorems of Kesten and Oren
In 1966 Harry Kesten settled the Erd\H os-Sz\"usz conjecture on the local discrepancy of irrational rotations. His proof made heavy use of continued fractions and Diophantine analysis.
