Topographical and Tribological Characteristics of Asian Human Hair Cuticles [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, 2015
The topography and frictional force of Asian black male and female hair cuticles at different locations are determined using atomic force microscopy (AFM) and friction force microscopy (FFM). The frictional values, mapped for comparison with surface morphology, corresponded qualitatively with the structures’ plane surface characteristics.

Diffusion of coloured silica nanoparticles into human hair [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A novel method for dyeing human hair fibres using coloured silica nanoparticles of 206 nm has been developed. Diffusion of coloured silica nanoparticles into hair fibres has been investigated; silica nanoparticles do not penetrate at all, or do so only

Tribology in the Hair Surface and Tactile Perception

open access: yesTribology Online, 2008
The alteration of hair surface properties due to hair damage results in a coarse texture for tactile feeling. The relationship between the surface properties of hair and the recognition of hair damage was investigated using unique artificial hair ...

New records of water mites of the family Sperchontidae Thor; 1900 from China (Acari, Hydrachnidia), with descriptions of two new species [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Five species of water mites of the family Sperchontidae Thor, 1900 are reported from China. Two of them are new to science, Sperchon (Sperchon) orbipatella sp.n. and S. (Sperchon) urumqiensis sp.

The last instar larva and pupa of Ora depressa (Coleoptera: Scirtidae), a marsh beetle with underwater pupation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this contribution we describe and illustrate for the first time, detailed morphology and chaetotaxy of the last instar larva and the pupa of Ora depressa (Fabricius, 1801), and provide diagnostic characters and information on its biology.

Characteristics of the microscopic hair structure of domestic mammals from Equidae family

open access: yesUkrainian Journal of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences, 2019
Hair is an indispensable component of the animal body. Having structural features of the structure, it allows you likely to identify the type and age of animals, conditions of keeping animals, feeding and even sex.
