Influence of the Built-up Edge on the Stress State in the Chip Formation Zone During Orthogonal Cutting of AISI1045 [PDF]
In-situ strain measurements with high energy synchrotron radiation during orthogonal cutting of AISI1045 were carried out. Thereby it was possible to determine the stress state in the chip formation zone during the cutting process.

Dynamic effects on cutting forces with highly positive versus highly negative cutting edge geometries [PDF]
Understanding the influence of the cutting edge geometry on the development of cutting forces during the milling process is of high importance in order to predict the mechanical loads on the cutting edge as well as the dynamic behavior on the milling tool.

Development of Thermomechanical Model for the Analysis of Effects of Friction and Cutting Speed on Temperature Distribution around AISI 316L During Orthogonal Machining [PDF]
In metal cutting, severe deformation takes place in the vicinity of the cutting edge of the high strain-rate and an increase in temperature is observed. Deformation behaviour of the work material in the primary and secondary zones is highly sensitive to ...

Numerical and analytical modeling of orthogonal cutting : The link between local variables and global contact characteristics [PDF]
The response of the tool–chip interface is characterized in the orthogonal cutting process by numerical and analytical means and compared to experimental results. We study the link between local parameters (chip temperature, sliding friction coefficient,

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF CBN CUTTING INSERTS WITH DIFFERENT EDGE GEOMETRIES
In this paper the experimental results of newly developed cutting inserts with special geometry and position for machining of hardened surfaces are summarized. The design of the tool holder and cutting insert allows the increase of the applied feed values in hard turning.

Effect of Machining Conditions on Temperature and Vickers Microhardness of Chips during Planing
For the machining of long and narrow surfaces and when processing multiple pieces, planing technology is used, the productivity of which can be higher than that of milling, although it is relatively slow machining. The article aims to study the degree of

The role of tool geometry in process damped milling [PDF]
The complex interaction between machining structural systems and the cutting process results in machining instability, so called chatter. In some milling scenarios, process damping is a useful phenomenon that can be exploited to mitigate chatter and ...
