Cutting force modelling and physical cutting simulation
1998There is a direct relationship between the cutting conditions and the economics of the SSM-process. The goal is to cut the part as quickly as possible while maintaining safe cutting conditions and high part quality. The simulation of the physical process must be capable of estimating the cutting forces.

Study of Soft Tissue Cutting Forces and Cutting Speeds
2004A versatile equipment to study the cutting of soft tissue with surgery scalpel was designed and constructed. Experiments were performed with pig liver (ex-vivo) to measure the blade-tissue interaction forces at cutting speeds ranging from 0.1 cm/sec-2.54 cm/sec. The experimentally measured force-displacement curves reveal that the liver cutting process

Cutting Force Model for Diamond Cutting Microstructured Surfaces
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013The depth of cut changed periodically along the contour of the cutting surfaces. The diamond tool of sharp point tip was used in diamond cutting microstructured surfaces with Fast Tool Serve (FTS). All reported the cutting force model were not suitable for accurately predicting cutting force.

Cutting Forces in Internal Grinding
Russian Engineering Research, 2020Models of the cutting force in various types of grinding may be based on the fundamental laws regarding local plastic deformation of metal by the wheel’s abrasive grains and also the kinematics of cutting in the grinding conditions. The models take account of the cutting conditions and the geometric parameters of the wheel–workpiece contact zone.

In this paper a new method for instantaneous cutting force prediction is presented, in case of sculptured surface milling. The method is executed in a highly parallel manner by the general purpose graphics processing unit (GPGPU). As opposed to the accustomed way, the geometric information of the work piece-cutter touching area is gained directly from ...

High-speed cutting of foods: Cutting behavior and initial cutting forces
Journal of Food Engineering, 2018Abstract The viscoelastic properties of foods determine deformation, fracture and friction during industrial cutting applications and substantially affect the cutting behavior, especially at high cutting velocity. Using a custom-built high-speed test station the cutting behavior of representative foods (either based on a protein network, plant ...

Cutting forces in internal broaching
International Journal of Production Research, 1983This paper deals with a dynamometer for measuring cutting forces in internal broaching. Typical records of axial and radial components of broaching forces are given. The variation of cutting force with broaching speed has been studied. An empirical equation for calculating specific cutting pressure is given.

Cutting force measurement in machining
2009New materials are being developed at a rapid pace, and particularly the constant refinement of cutting materials, tools and machine tools calls for up-to-date reference tables for optimal technological values. The tables or recommended data made available by the tool- or material manufacturers are usually very general and do not take into consideration
