A Proximal Analytic Center Cutting Plane Algorithm for Solving Variational Inequality Problems

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2012
Under the condition that the values of mapping F are evaluated approximately, we propose a proximal analytic center cutting plane algorithm for solving variational inequalities. It can be considered as an approximation of the earlier cutting plane method,

Investigation of Nanocutting Characteristics of Off-Axis 4H-SiC Substrate by Molecular Dynamics

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
Silicon carbide (SiC), especially 4H-SiC, is an ideal semiconductor in power electronics due to its outstanding electrical and thermal properties. It has high hardness and brittleness, which makes it difficult to machine.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Experimental Investigation on Joint Effects in Rock Cutting with a Conical Pick Under Unrelieved Cutting Conditions

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In this study, a series of unrelieved cutting tests was conducted to analyze the effect of joints on rock cutting using a conical pick. The tests were performed on jointed rock mass specimens with joint spacings (Js) of 30, 60, and 90 mm and at cutting ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Using of Modified Simplex Imbeddings Method for Solving Special Class of Convex Non-Differentiable Optimization Problems

open access: yesИзвестия Иркутского государственного университета: Серия "Математика", 2015
In this paper it is considered the modified simplex imbeddings method, which is related to the class of cutting plane methods. The main feature of this method is the convergence estimation, which depends only on the quantity of simplex vertices, that are

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.
