Miniaturized Devices for On‐the‐Spot Generation of Small‐Diameter Vascular Grafts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
An intracorporeal extrusion device is developed for on‐the‐spot generation of vascular grafts with tunable diameters spanning from 1 to 6 mm. The device uses biomimetic polymers and light, to promptly obtaining biocompatible and high‐burst pressure‐resistant grafts.

In-vitro evaluation of antibacterial potential of cyanoacrylate tissue adhesives for intraoral wound closure [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Dental Materials and Techniques, 2017
Background: Cyanoacrylate tissue adhesives have been used as a substitute to silk for intraoral wound closure. Placement of sutures provides a corridor for accumulation of microorganisms into tissue which leads to infection. Cyanoacrylate-based adhesives

Interfacial properties of polymethyl α-cyanoacrylate and polybutyl α-cyanoacrylate

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 1976
Abstract Several physical properties of two polyalkyl α-cyanoacrylates relevant to their use in pharmaceutical dosage forms have been investigated. Formation of polymer films at several oil-water interfaces reveals films of diverse morphology.

Poka: A Necro‐Robot Beetle with a Measured Payload Ratio of 6847%

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Here, Poka, a necro‐robot beetle with the ability to carry more than 68 times its own weight, is introduced, making it also a walking robot with the highest payload ratio measured to date. This paper is concerned with the design, manufacture and validation of ‘Poka', a novel millimetre‐scale necro‐robot aimed at bridging the performance gap between ...

Scalable substrate development for aqueous sample preparation for atom probe tomography

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Reliable and consistent preparation of atom probe tomography (APT) specimens from aqueous and hydrated biological specimens remains a significant challenge. One particularly difficult process step is the use of a focused ion beam (FIB) instrument for preparing the required needle‐shaped specimen, typically involving a ‘lift‐out’ procedure of a

A comparison of six fingerprint enhancement techniques for the recovery of latent fingerprints from unfired cartridge cases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This work compared the effectiveness of six different enhancement methods on six different sizes of brass cartridges. One sebaceous fingerprint was deposited onto twenty-five of each size of cartridge to enable a statistical evaluation of the enhancement
