Chemical Ionization Mass Spectrometry: Fundamental Principles, Diverse Applications, and the Latest Technological Frontiers

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The review examines the evolution of chemical ionization mass spectrometry (CI‐MS), a technique developed in 1966 by Field and Munson. CI is a soft‐ionization method that produces more intense molecular ions with less fragmentation than electron ionization (EI).

Interaction of CNCl molecule and single-walled AlN nanotubes using DFT and TD-DFT calculations

open access: yesJournal of Saudi Chemical Society, 2017
Density functional theory (DFT) calculations are used to study the influence of cyanogen chloride (CNCl) adsorption over the geometrical and electronic properties of single-walled (5, 0), (8, 0), and (10, 0) AlN nanotubes as an adsorbent for adsorbate ...

Irrigation using slightly saline water from emerging desalination technologies as a solution to short‐term drought

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
With global weather patterns becoming more extreme and unpredictable, sourcing reliable irrigation water is vital for improving food security and conserving drinking water in drought‐prone areas. Emerging desalination technologies, which are still in the development phase, could potentially provide large quantities of slightly saline water for ...

Prospective of indigenous African wild food plants in alleviation of the severe iron deficiency anaemia in Sub‐Saharan Africa

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Iron deficiency anaemia remains a major public health challenge in Sub‐Saharan Africa, where population growth, displacement and limited resources heighten nutritional insecurity. We compiled a list of indigenous African underutilized wild food plants and examined their potential for addressing micronutrient deficiencies.

Affinity chromatography of lipase with hydrophobic ligands coupled to cyanogen bromide-activated agarose

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1976
The behavior of lipase produced by Pseudomonas mephitica var. lipolytica toward hydrophobic residues coupled to spacer gels that were prepared by coupling a primary amine to CNBr-activated agarose, was studied. The lipase adsorbed on the ligand of a long

Developmental expression of Ap‐Vas proteins in aphids and flies reveals their evolutionary roles in insects

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, EarlyView.
Duplication of vas genes is universally observed in aphids, and phylogenetic analysis indicates that this event predates the divergence of Aphididae and Phylloxeridae. Ap‐vas1 is germline‐specific, whereas Ap‐vas2–4 exhibit somatic expression, indicating functional divergence during aphid embryogenesis.

Harnessing Hydrogen Cyanide (HCN): Responsive Chemical Tools for Delivering an Emerging Gasotransmitter

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 2, 9 January 2026.
HCN is an important biological mediator, joining NO, CO, and H2S as a regulatory gasotransmitter. This report outlines the design, development, and application of responsive, activatable, and tunable HCN donors. In‐solution kinetics and selectivity data, as well as demonstration of HCN delivery in live cell environments, support the effectiveness of ...
