Maternal inheritance of plastids and mitochondria in Cycas L. (Cycadaceae)
Molecular Genetics and Genomics, 2011Cycas is often considered a living fossil, thereby providing a unique model for revealing the evolution of spermatophytes. To date, the genetic inheritance of these archaic plants is not fully understood. The present study seeks to document the process of organelle inheritance in an interspecific cross of Cycas species.

Cycas lindstromii (Cycadaceae), a New Species from Southern Vietnam
Novon, 1997A new species, Cycas lindstromii, is described from Binh Thuan in southern Vietnam. It is allied to C. siamensis, but distinguished by its subterranean trunk, elongated megasporophyll, and shorter, keeled leaf. The new species is illustrated, and its distribution, ecology, and conservation status are discussed.
