Cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase from Ustilago maydis
Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, 1984Ustilago maydis was surveyed for cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase activity. Using a combination of ion-exchange and molecular filtration techniques, we demonstrate that there is only one form of cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase in the cytosolic fraction of the fungus.

Synthetic substrate for cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase
Nature, 1975MOST hormones and neurotransmitters are thought to stimulate the synthesis of adenosine 3′,5′-cyclic monophosphate (cyclic AMP) which in turn activates protein kinases1. On activation, the protein kinases transfer the terminal phosphate group of ATP to serine or threonine residues in enzymic or membrane proteins involved in metabolic regulation ...

A cyclic AMP dependent protein kinase in Dictyosteliumdiscoideum
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1982Abstract A cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase was found to appear during the time course of development of Dictyostelium discoideum . No cyclic AMP dependency was observed at any stage of development in crude 110,000 X G soluble extracts. After partial purification, however, extracts from post-aggregation stages contained enzyme that was ...

Phosphorylation of Tau by Cyclic-AMP-Dependent Protein Kinase
Dementia and Geriatric Cognitive Disorders, 1993Alzheimer's disease paired helical filaments contain abnormally phosphorylated tau (PHF-tau) which has reduced electrophoretic mobility on sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide electrophoresis. We have investigated the effects of cyclic-AMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) on recombinant human tau isoforms and two recombinant tau fragments.

Cisplatin resistance in cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase mutants
Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 1998The emergence of cisplatin resistance poses a major problem to the successful treatment of a variety of human malignancies. Therefore, understanding the molecular mechanisms that underlie cisplatin resistance could significantly improve the clinical efficacy of this cytotoxic agent.

Cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase phosphorylates serine378 in vitronectin
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1991We previously observed that Ser378 in the heparin-binding domain of vitronectin becomes phosphorylated by a protein kinase in plasma upon addition of ATP and divalent cations. We now report that purified plasma vitronectin contains approximately 2.5 mol of phosphate per mol of protein and that vitronectin becomes phosphorylated during biosynthesis in ...

Activation of cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase in macrophages
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1984The activity of cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase (cyclic AMP-PK) was significantly higher (P less than 0.001) in thioglycollate-elicited than in resident rat peritoneal macrophages. The activity ratio of the enzyme (its activity in the absence of added cyclic AMP divided by that in the presence of 5 microM cyclic AMP) was similar in the two cell ...

Inhibition of cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase by curcumin
Phytochemistry, 1996Curcumin [diferuloylmethane; 1,7-bis(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1,6-heptadiene-3,5-dione], a major bioactive secondary metabolite found in the rhizomes of turmeric (Curcuma longa), is an inhibitor of Ca(2+)- and phospholipid-dependent protein kinase C (PKC) and of the catalytic subunit (cAK) of cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase (IC50 values 15 and 4 ...

Phosphorylation of casein by cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1977Abstract The catalytic subunit of rabbit muscle cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase (EC 2.7.1.37; ATP:protein transferase) has been tested on a variety of caseins. The B variant of β-casein was phosphorylated at a much greater rate than other β-caseins, αs1-caseins, and κ-caseins. Whole casein homozygous for β-casein B was phosphorylated at 2.5 times

Cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase in calf-snout epidermis
Archives of Dermatological Research, 1986The biochemical characteristics of cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase in calf-snout epidermis were investigated. The activity of cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase was higher in the lower layer than the upper layer of epidermis. The supernatant of homogenates of the lower layer of calf-snout epidermis was fractionated by DEAE-cellulose chromatography
