Structure and constructions of cyclic convolutional codes
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1976The encoded sequences of an (n,k) convolutional code are treated as sequences of polynomials in the ring of polynomials modulo X^{n} - 1 . Any such sequence can then be written as a power series in two variables w(X,D) , where the polynomial coefficient of D^{j} is the "word" at time unit j in the sequence.

A generalized cyclic convolution system and its applications

No.99CH37030), 2003This paper generalizes the cyclic convolution system by the discrete Fourier transform (DFT). The generalized cyclic convolution is modified in such a way that conventional fast algorithms can be applied for the computation. This system is applied for computing a negacyclic convolution and modified Fermat number transform.

Combinatorial constructions of cyclic convolutional self-orthogonal codes
Proceedings of 1994 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2002Convolutional self-orthogonal(CSO) codes were first introduced by Massey (1963). Their decoders employ majority-logic decisions and present a fixed delay, while the complexity grows exponentially with the code rate when maximum likelihood (Viterbi) decoding is used.
