Cyclic Fatigue in Metal Bellows
Volume 3: Design and Analysis, 2013Engineers who encounter the need for metal bellows expansion joints in piping and heat exchangers are often challenged by cyclic fatigue life calculation methods. ASME has published formulas for predicting low cycle fatigue life of metal bellows. Both B31.3 Appendix X and BPVC VIII Appendix 26 are similar in their approach, but are based on a data set ...

Cyclic contact fatigue of a silver alternative to amalgam
Dental Materials, 1998To purpose of this study was to compare the cyclic contact fatigue resistance of a novel mercury-free silver direct filling material to that of a dental amalgam (Dispersalloy). The silver specimens were made by pressing a precipitated powder at room temperature with a pressure of 150 MPa, which can be achieved in clinical hand-consolidation. To simulate

Reduction of muscle fatigue in man by cyclical stimulation
Journal of Biomedical Engineering, 1988In order to develop a control system for electrical stimulation of paralysed muscle and improve muscle resistance to fatigue, it is useful to investigate the possibilities of simulating the control systems of the normal body. One way is the periodic shifting of stimulation from one muscle to another.

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1991
Abstract Methods for calculating the fatigue life of cables with an infinite number of parallel wires are presented. The methods account for the effects of cable legnth and the increase in stress range that occurs as cable wires break. Comparisons are made with fatigue lives of cables with finite numbers of wires calculated by Monte Carlo simulation.

Cyclic fatigue of instruments for endodontic glide path
Odontology, 2013Endodontic glide path is the creation of a smooth patency from canal orifice to apex, which can be performed manually or with small tapered NiTi rotary instruments. The use of stainless steel (SS) hand K-files inserted in a reciprocating handpiece can be a possible alternative to create a mechanical glide path.

Cyclic Fatigue behavior of Ceramics
1983In recent years, ceramics have been investigated because of their application as structual components at high temperature. A great deal of this research has dealt with various mechanical properties. Although, considerable effort has been made in the study of fracture strength and creep properties, comparatively a little is known about the fatigue ...

Influence of cyclic frequency on strain localization and cyclic deformation in fatigue
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 1994Abstract To explore the stability of typical, fatigue, dislocation structures when subjected to cycling with different frequencies, polycrystalline copper has been subjected to single- and multiblock tests under constant loading, but different frequencies of 0.5, 2 and 8 Hz.

Muscle Fatigue and Fatigue-Related Biomechanical Changes During a Cyclic Lifting Task
Spine, 2003Electromyographic and biomechanical methods were utilized to investigate correlations between indexes of localized muscle fatigue and changes in the kinematics and kinetics of motion during a cyclic lifting task.Recent advances in time-frequency analysis procedures for electromyographicic signal processing provide a new way of studying localized muscle

Cyclic fatigue of a silicon nitride: influence of frequency and fatigue mechanism
Journal of Materials Science, 1996An investigation has been carried out on the slow crack growth behaviour of an advanced Si3N4 ceramic material at room temperature at different loading frequencies. The results clearly show a detrimental effect of cyclic loading on crack growth rate in terms of time and a reduced crack growth resistance with increasing cyclic frequency.
