Consolidation Theory for Cyclic Loading

Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1978
This article presents a one-dimensional consolidation theory for an inelastic normally consolidated clay layer subjected to cyclic loading. Analytic solutions predict the steady-state excess pore pressures and settlements that take place after a large number of cycles.

A Cyclic Load-Test Procedure

1948
In recent years there has been a concerted effort by highway and airport engineers to develop methods of evaluating the supporting power of subgrades, base courses, and finished pavement designs by means of loading or bearing tests. From the investigations and testing programs of the various engineering organizations in charge of pavement design and ...

CYCLIC LOADING OF THERMAL STRESSES

Journal of Thermal Stresses, 2001
The isotropic and kinematic hardening theories of plasticity are used to evaluate the cyclic loading behavior of structures under thermal stresses. The material of the structures used in this article is assumed to follow nonlinear strain hardening property. The material's strain hardening curve in tension and compression is assumed to be both identical

Soil Behaviour under Cyclic Loading

2008
Fundamental characteristics of soil behaviour during earthquakes are reviewed; field and laboratory evidences of non linearities and energy dissipation mechanisms are presented. Different kinds of soil constitutive models are discussed with special emphasis on the equivalent linear viscoelastic model commonly used in engineering practice.

Optimal Design for Cyclic Loading

1975
Analysis of the response of elastoplastic structures to a cyclic loading is of a considerable practical importance because the most of real loads are cyclic. Recently the branch of mechanics related to this field and commonly known as a shakedown theory has achieved a significant progress [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. However, the main attention was given as yet to
