Cyclic loading in knee ligament injuries

The American Journal of Sports Medicine, 1980
The effect of cyclic loading on knee ligaments was studied both in vivo and in vitro. The compliance of the medial collateral ligaments of athletes participating in hockey, basketball, soc cer, and downhill skiing was determined by using a specially built machine. Tests were conducted before and after partici pation in the various sports.

ACL graft migration under cyclic loading

Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, 2009
AbstractElongation and migration of ACL grafts will lead to a deterioration of the initial stability of ACL reconstructions. The graft migration has been sparsely investigated independently from the elongation of the graft–fixation complex. The hypothesis of this investigation was that cyclic tensile loads cause a measurable migration of the grafts ...

Cyclic Axial Loading of Spinal Implants

Spine, 1985
The performance characteristics of Harrington distraction rods were evaluated and compared with paired wired L-rods when subjected to cyclic axial compression loading. Twelve fresh frozen swine spines with intact facet joints and anterior and posterior ligamentous complexes were instrumented and tested in a specially designed pneumatic testing device ...

Full-scale model study on variations of soil stress in geosynthetic-reinforced pile-supported track bed with water level change and cyclic loading

Canadian geotechnical journal (Print), 2019
This study presents a full-scale model investigation on variations of soil stress in a geosynthetic-reinforced pile-supported track bed at various water levels and loading cycles, with four testing procedures: water level rising, cyclic loading at high ...

Damage of Marble from Cyclic Loading

Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, 2001
The behavior of marble was investigated to evaluate the damage and failure mechanisms produced from cyclic loading. Approximately 100 cycles of increasing load steps, representing low cycle fatigue, were imposed on beams in three and four-point bending. Damage was recorded through an array of strain gauges and an interferometric technique that provided

Strength and Damage Response of Sandstone and Granodiorite under Different Loading Conditions of Multistage Uniaxial Cyclic Compression

, 2020
Understanding the strength and deformation response of hard and soft rocks under cyclic loading is very important for assessing fatigue in rock engineering structures.

Residual Undrained Deformation from Cyclic Loading

Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1982
Residual undrained deformation of anisotropically consolidated soil samples under cyclic loading is investigated. The magnitude of residual deformation is influenced by factors such as initial stress condition, excess pore pressure generated by the cyclic loading, and soil properties.
