The $Z_2\times Z_2$ Orbifold and the SUSY Flavor Problem [PDF]
The characteristic property of the $Z_2\times Z_2$ orbifold is its cyclic permutation symmetry. It is argued that this property may be instrumental in explaining simultaneously the fermion mass hierarchy and the squark mass degeneracy.

Flavor structure in D-brane models: Majorana neutrino masses [PDF]
We study the flavor structure in intersecting D-brane models. We study anomalies of the discrete flavor symmetries. We analyze the Majorana neutrino masses, which can be generated by D-brane instanton effects.

Solvable intransitive permutation groups with constant movement [PDF]
In this paper, all solvable intransitive permutation groups with constant movement are classified and we show that they are one of the following groups: a cyclic $p$-group, an elementary abelian $p$-group, a Frobenius group of order 12 or a Frobenius ...

Dynamical quantum ergodicity from energy level statistics
Ergodic theory provides a rigorous mathematical description of chaos in classical dynamical systems, including a formal definition of the ergodic hierarchy. How ergodic dynamics is reflected in the energy levels and eigenstates of a quantum system is the

Permutation-twisted modules for even order cycles acting on tensor product vertex operator superalgebras [PDF]
We construct and classify $(1 \; 2 \; \cdots \; k)$-twisted $V^{\otimes k}$-modules for $k$ even and $V$ a vertex operator superalgebra. In particular, we show that the category of weak $(1 \; 2 \; \cdots \; k)$-twisted $V^{\otimes k}$-modules for $k ...

Number of cycles in the graph of 312-avoiding permutations [PDF]
The graph of overlapping permutations is defined in a way analogous to the De Bruijn graph on strings of symbols. That is, for every permutation $\pi = \pi_{1} \pi_{2} ... \pi_{n+1}$ there is a directed edge from the standardization of $\pi_{1} \pi_{2} ..

Phytohormone brassinosteroid‐induced gene regulation by the transcription factor BIL1/BZR1 involves redox‐dependent DNA‐binding alternation and interaction with the transcription factor PIF4. The reduced BIL1/BZR1 dimer binds preferred cis‐elements, while oxidation alters its oligomerization state and disrupts DNA‐binding ability.

Cyclic permutations realized by signed shifts [PDF]
The periodic (ordinal) patterns of a map are the permutations realized by the relative order of the points in its periodic orbits. We give a combinatorial characterization of the periodic patterns of an arbitrary signed shift, in terms of the structure of the descent set of a certain cyclic permutation associated to the pattern.

Image cipher applications using the elliptical curve and chaos
A novel symmetric cryptosystem of the substitution permutation network type is presented for image encryption in 14 rounds. An algorithm is developed to generate 15 keys to encrypt images where each key is the image size.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is of huge importance, resulting in over 1 million deaths each year. Here, we describe how a new drug, enmetazobactam, designed to help fight resistant bacterial diseases, inhibits a key enzyme (GES‐1) responsible for AMR. Our data show it is a more potent inhibitor than the related tazobactam, with high‐level computation
