Cyclic Plasticity of Aluminum in Large Plastic Strain Ranges

2018
Aluminum has been increasingly employed in space, building, and other structures owing to its light weight and high durability. Compared with structural steel, aluminum has relatively low ductility and is more apt to fail during strong earthquakes. Seismic loading is associated with random strain amplitudes, which makes it necessary to calibrate a ...

Cyclic Plasticity and Fatigue Crack Growth

Key Engineering Materials, 2006
The relation between material’s cyclic plastic behavior and fatigue crack growth is investigated. The present model is proposed on the dislocation-free zone (DFZ) theory. A cohesive zone theory is developed to determine the stress field of the DFZ and the value of J-integer under cyclic loading.

Plastic flow under multiaxial cyclic loading

Experimental Mechanics, 1986
An experimental study of the inelastic behavior of annealed aluminum alloy 6061-T6 tubular specimens subjected to combined axial and torsional stress cycles is presented. Particular attention is paid to the question of how plastic strain is developed and how the yield surface moves along the 90-deg out-of-phase stress cycle.

Anisotropic Behaviour at Cyclic Plastic Deformation

1982
Proceeding from a previously proposed constitutive equation for plastic materials the anisotropy produced by permanent deformation is considered. Then the case of cyclic deformation is studied. Experimental results show that the superposition of equal strain amplitudes and a constant plastic strain produces a mean stress relaxing very slowly to zero ...
