Electrical resistivity of cyclically deformed copper

Czechoslovak Journal of Physics, 1969
The change of the electrical resistivity of copper cyclically deformed in torsion at room temperature and in liquid nitrogen was measured. The fatigue life, hardening and the increments of resistivity of specimens deformed at the two temperatures differed appreciably.

Pleiotropic drug resistance in cystic fibrosis fibroblasts: Increased resistance to cyclic AMP

Somatic Cell Genetics, 1978
In previous studies, cystic fibrosis (CF) fibroblasts were demonstrated to be resistant to the cytotoxic effects of ouabain, dexamethasone, and the sex hormones, dihydrotestosterone, 17beta-estradiol, and progesterone. We now show that CF fibroblasts also exhibit greatly increased resistance to the cytotoxic effects of exogenous dibutyryl cyclic AMP ...

The Resistance of Metals to Cyclic Deformation

1970
Fatigue behavior of metals is reviewed with particular emphasis on those properties and parameters which relate to cyclic deformation resistance. Representative data for aluminum-, titanium-, and nickel-base alloys and steels strengthened by various processes are presented to illustrate procedures for characterizing cycle-dependent deformation and ...

The influence of specimen dimensions and cyclic loading conditions of the cyclic crack resistance of 15Kh2MFA

Strength of Materials, 1990
The results are presented of an investigation of the cyclic crack resistance of 15Kh2MFA steel (σ0.2=583.5 MPa, σt = 700 MPa) in a broad range of change in specimen thickness (t=25–150 mm) and conditions of single-frequency (R=0.1–0.75) and double-frequency (q=0.005–0.75, p=1000) cyclic loading. It is established that the combined influence of specimen

Effect of copper on the cyclic crack resistance and heat resistance of graphitic steels

Materials Science, 2004
We study the effect of copper content (0.05–3.45 mass %) on the structure of the matrix and graphitic phase of graphitic steels (GS) annealed for globular perlite. It has been established that the effect of copper content on the physicomechanical characteristics of GS is ambiguous.

An Anisotropic Clay Plasticity Model for the Cyclic Resistance

2021
In this paper, an advanced critical state compatible Bounding Surface (BS) plasticity model for the cyclic response of clays is developed based on a prior version of a Simple Anisotropic CLAY plasticity (SANICLAY) model. With the proposed model, named SANICLAY-BS and abbreviated as S-BS, it is possible to capture the presence of a cyclic stress ...

Monotonic and cyclic pullout resistance of geosynthetics

2009
An evaluation of soil-geosynthetic interface strength for different types of loading is important to the design of any anchorage detail of a reinforced soil structure or membrane-lined waste containment facility. The imposed loadings may be classified as static, repeated non-dynamic or cyclic, and dynamic.

Superior resistance to cyclic creep in a gradient structured steel

Science
Cyclic creep, or ratcheting, is a severe form of fatigue deformation caused by cumulative unidirectional plastic strain under asymmetrical stress cycling with a nonzero mean stress. It often causes premature failure of structural materials, and enhancing ratcheting resistance is a challenge in materials engineering.

A role for cyclic hydroxamates in aluminium resistance in maize?

Journal of Inorganic Biochemistry, 2005
Hydroxamate siderophores have been found to alleviate Al toxicity in bacteria. In Poaceae plants cyclic hydroxamates, like DIMBOA (2,4-dihydroxy-7-methoxy-1,4-benzoxazin-3-one) and its derivatives have mostly been studied in relation to either defence against insects or allelopathy.
