Global diffeomorphism of the Lagrangian flow-map defining Equatorially trapped water waves [PDF]
The aim of this paper is to prove that a three dimensional Lagrangian flow which defines equatorially trapped water waves is dynamically possible. This is achieved by applying a mixture of analytical and topological methods to prove that the nonlinear ...

Structure and spin dynamics of multiferroric BiFeO$_3$
Multiferroic materials have attracted much interest due to the unusual coexistence of ferroelectric and (anti-)ferromagnetic ground states in a single compound. They offer an exciting platform for new physics and potentially novel devices.

Tolerance-Insensitive Design of the Magnet Shape for a Surface Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor
Many studies have been conducted to reduce the cogging torque of electric power steering motors. However, in the mass production of such motors, it is essential to enhance performance robustness in relation to tolerances.

Large amplitude behavior of the Grinfeld instability: a variational approach
In previous work, we have performed amplitude expansions of the continuum equations for the Grinfeld instability and carried them to high orders. Nevertheless, the approach turned out to be restricted to relatively small amplitudes.

Topological Point Defects in SmC* Liquid Crystals Under Mechanical Disturbance
Tangetial air jet shear inducess island formation and nucleates topological point defects in uniform SmC films. Island bounded by edge dislocation loops shrink and transform into isolated point defects under continued shear. Mechanical perturbatio provides a controllable route for defect engineering in smectric liquid crystal thin films.

Ultrafast Laser-Induced Melting of Long-Range Magnetic Order in Multiferroic TbMnO3
We performed ultrafast time-resolved near-infrared pump, resonant soft X-ray diffraction probe measurements to investigate the coupling between the photoexcited electronic system and the spin cycloid magnetic order in multiferroic TbMnO3 at low ...

Abstract In this paper we introduce for an arbitrary algebra (groupoid, binary system) (X; *) a sequence of algebras (X; *)n = (X; ∘), where x ∘ y = [x * y]n = x * [x * y]n−1, [x * y]0 = y. For several classes of examples we study the cycloidal index (m, n) of (X; *), where (X; *)m = (X; *)n for m > n and m is minimal with this ...

Toward Wireless Implantable Robotic Systems Driven by Magnetic Field for Personalized Therapy
Robotic materials are playing an increasingly vital role in enabling sensing and actuation at small scales. This perspective highlights recent advances in magnetic materials and magnetically actuated devices for wireless sensing, actuation, and energy harvesting toward implantable robotic systems for closed‐loop therapy.

Drivers of tail evolution in squamates and their implications for the fossorial origin of snakes
Abstract The axial skeleton serves as the primary structural support in all vertebrates and is subdivided into five distinct regions: cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacral, and caudal. Relaxation of constraints acting on the terminal end of the axial skeleton has led to remarkable variation in caudal vertebrae number across Squamata.
