Comparison of Involute and Cycloidal Engagement in Harmonic Drives

Proceedings of Higher Educational Institutions. Маchine Building, 2022
Harmonic drives with an involute tooth profile have such faults as noise effects, tooth skips, jamming, increased tooth wear, etc. One of the reasons for the appearance of these shortcomings is the interference of the teeth, which can be caused by an incorrect choice of gear parameters, errors in the manufacture and mounting transmission elements ...

A novel testing system for a Cycloidal drive

2012 12th International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications (ISDA), 2012
At present, for mechanical power transmission, Cycloidal drives are most preferred - for compact, high transmission ratio speed reduction, especially for robot joints and manipulator applications. Research on drive-train dynamics of Cycloidal drives is not well-established.

Cycloid Drives With Machining Tolerances

Journal of Mechanisms, Transmissions, and Automation in Design, 1989
The cycloidal speed reducer, or cycloid drive, is an epicyclic gear train in which the profile of the planet gear is an epitrochoid and the annular sun gear has rollers as its teeth. The cycloid drive has very high efficiency and small size, in comparison with a conventional gear mechanism, making it an attractive candidate for limited space ...

Challenges of Linearization-based Control of Industrial Robots with Cycloidal Drives

2021 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics (ICM), 2021
Most industrial robots are still controlled with motor-side feedback. To increase the accuracy of industrial robots, controllers with joint-side feedback and explicit consideration of the joint elasticity, such as linearization-based controllers, are needed.

Tooth modification and dynamic performance of the cycloidal drive

Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, 2017
Abstract A new method of cycloid disc tooth modification is presented in this paper. Its main idea is to design the modification clearance curves to adapt to different modification targets. A detailed procedure of the new modification clearance curve, which can be defined by adjusting the position of 5 key points is developed.

Sliding ratio for novel cycloidal gear drive

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 2017
In this paper, for a novel spur cycloidal gear drive with a modified tooth profile, the equations of the sliding ratio are deduced from those of its tooth profile. Using the sliding ratio equations, the sliding ratio of the novel cycloidal gear drive is investigated and effects of the drive parameters on the sliding ratio are analysed.

Rigidity Analysis of FA pin-Cycloid Drive

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
When the FA pin-cycloid drive is used in high precision control drive system, especially in the robot drive, there are strict requirements to torsional rigidity .Usually in rated torque, the elastic lost motion produced by the torsional elastic deformation must meet certain precision.
