Manufacturing, Mathematic Models and Meshing Analysis for the Cycloid Grooves of the Cycloid Ball Planetary Drive

2009 International Conference on Measuring Technology and Mechatronics Automation, 2009
Based on the space meshing theory, this paper proposes mathematic models for the cycloid grooves on central disc and planetary disc of the cycloid ball planetary drive generated by cone milling cutter. The meshing equations are established, and the surfaces equations of the epitrochoid and hypotrochoid enclosed grooves are deduced.

Design and application guidelines for cycloid drives with machining tolerances

Mechanism and Machine Theory, 1990
Abstract This paper presents an analytical and computer-aided analysis and synthesis of cycloid drives. The kinematic relationships among tolerance, drive parameters (gear ratio, normalized tooth height and pitch diameter) and performance indices (backlash and torque ripple) are analytically defined, and subsequently analyzed in detail via a computer-

Modification Analysis of the New Axis-Fixed Cycloid Drive

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011
Due to those disadvantages of the cycloidal-pin wheel transmission, such as complex structure, low efficiency and low bearing capacity, a new kind of axis-fixed cycloid transmission is proposed. A new method for optimum modification quantity of cycloid gear is put forward on the ground of its drive principle.

Design and machining of the epicycloid planet gear of cycloid drives

The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2005
This paper presents a mathematical model and design procedures to design the epicycloid planet gear of cycloid drives. It is based on coordinate transformation, envelope theory, and theories of conjugate surfaces, from which the equation of meshing is derived, while the path of machining tools is obtained by the equidistant curve principle. In addition,

Torsional stiffness and backlash of a new cycloid drive

2010
In industrial automation applications, besides adequate motors and robust and “clever” control systems, transmissions play a fundamental role in achieving precise positioning and high torsional stiffness. Reduced backlash greatly helps both in precise positioning and in motion inversion. Torsional stiffness is a valuable aid in keeping a fixed position

Efficiency of High-Sensitivity Gear Trains, Such as Cycloid Drives

Journal of Mechanical Design, 2013
Compact, high torque ratio, high efficiency transmissions are required in many applications, such as robotics. However, compact size and high torque ratios often come at the expense of surprisingly low efficiency. Here we apply Del Castillo's sensitivity framework (Del Castillo, J.
