This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

Can daily intake of aspirin and/or statins influence the behavior of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer? A retrospective study on a cohort of patients undergoing transurethral bladder resection [PDF]
Background: This study aimed to evaluate the behavior of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) in patients submitted to transurethral bladder resection (TURB) comparing subjects in chronic therapy with aspirin, statins, or both drugs to untreated ...

Landscape of BRAF transcript variants in human cancer
We investigate the annotation of BRAF variants, focusing on protein‐coding BRAF‐220 (formerly BRAF‐reference) and BRAF‐204 (BRAF‐X1). The IsoWorm pipeline allows us to quantify these variants in human cancer, starting from RNA‐sequencing data. BRAF‐204 is more abundant than BRAF‐220 and impacts patient survival.

The Role of PPARgamma in the Cyclooxygenase Pathway in Lung Cancer. [PDF]
Decreased expression of peroxisome proliferator activated receptor-gamma (PPARgamma) and high levels of the proinflammatory enzyme cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) have been observed in many tumor types.

Celecoxib inhibits proliferation and survival of chronic myelogeous leukemia (CML) cells via AMPK-dependent regulation of β-catenin and mTORC1/2. [PDF]
CML is effectively treated with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). However, the efficacy of these drugs is confined to the chronic phase of the disease and development of resistance to TKIs remains a pressing issue.

Cyclooxygenase and Prostaglandin in Cancer [PDF]
See Article on Page 253-258 Inflammation, especially longstanding abnormal inflammation, seems to contribute to neoplastic transformation to some extent. We cannot help thinking of cyclooxygenase (Cox) and prostaglandin (PG) whenever we mention it.

Cyclooxygenase products and atherosclerosis [PDF]
Prostaglandins (PGs) and their specific receptors play critical roles in atherothrombosis. Produced from arachidonic acid via two cyclooxygenase (COX) isoforms, PGs mediate their actions via G-protein coupled receptors. Thromboxane (TX) A2 is a vasoconstrictor and platelet agonist, prostacyclin (PGI2) is a vasodilator that inhibits platelet function ...

This study investigates gene expression differences between two major pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) subtypes, B‐cell precursor ALL, and T‐cell ALL, using a data‐driven approach consisting of biostatistics and machine learning methods. Following analysis of a discovery dataset, we find a set of 14 expression markers differentiating the ...

Ku80 cooperates with CBP to promote COX-2 expression and tumor growth. [PDF]
Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) plays an important role in lung cancer development and progression. Using streptavidin-agarose pulldown and proteomics assay, we identified and validated Ku80, a dimer of Ku participating in the repair of broken DNA double ...
