π‐Expanded Fluoranthenes as Chromophores With Tailored Properties
A series of π‐expanded fluoranthene scaffolds selectively functionalized with electron donors and acceptors were synthesized. The evolution of the structural, optoelectronic, and redox properties in relation to substitution and cyclization was comprehensively studied both in experiment and in theory. The results identify the compounds as highly tunable

In the title compound, [Fe(C5H5)(C7H8ClO)], the ferrocene cyclopentadiene rings are slightly staggered and inclined to one another at an angle of 0.79 (13)°. In the crystal, C—H...Cl and C—H...O hydrogen bonds each form inversion dimers and these combine

The influence of reaction conditions on the Diels-Alder cycloadditions of 2-thio-3-chloroacrylamides; investigation of thermal, catalytic and microwave conditions [PDF]
The Diels-Alder cycloadditions of cyclopentadiene and 2,3-dimethyl-1,3-butadiene to a range of 2-thio-3-chloroacrylamides under thermal, catalytic and microwave conditions is described.

Reversible Nanocomposites With Carbon Nanotubes as the Diene in the Diels–Alder Reaction
Scheme of the reversible nanocomposites through DA and rDA reactions with participation of carbon nanotubes. ABSTRACT Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) often require surface functionalization to facilitate uniform distribution and address issues related to aggregation. Due to the sp2 hybridized carbon atoms on their surface, CNTs readily participate in the Diels–

Diels–Alder Reaction as a Tool to Modify the Surface of Polymeric Microspheres
The study describes the synthesis of glycidyl methacrylate microspheres cross-linked with ethylene glycol dimethacrylate. With the use of suspension–emulsion polymerization, microspheres with different degrees of cross-linking were prepared.

The wide synthetic versatility of five membered rings containing phosphorus
The chemistry of cyclopentadiene rings has been widely studied. This review article deals with a similar chemistry of new compounds containing from 1 to 5 phosphorus atoms on the ring substituting the carbon atoms.

We call iodabenzene a cyclic (CH)5I molecule. A planar iodabenzene would have 8 π electrons, a situation best avoided by an out-of-plane distortion to a bird-like geometry.

Direct Detection of Products from the Pyrolysis of 2-Phenethyl Phenyl Ether [PDF]
The pyrolysis of 2-phenethyl phenyl ether (PPE, C_6H_5C_2H_4OC_6H_5) in a hyperthermal nozzle (300-1350 °C) was studied to determine the importance of concerted and homolytic unimolecular decomposition pathways. Short residence times (

Functional polymer materials containing heavy group‐14 elements focusing on germanium and tin
The synthesis, functions, and applications of the polymers containing heavy group 14 elements focusing on germanium and tin are outlined. Owing to their large atomic radii and weak binding energies, the polymers show unique properties: chromism, luminescence, carrier mobility, and reactivity to produce radials and higher coordinated states.
