Different aspects of a cyclotron magnet design, and not only calculations, are reviewed. The design is an iterative process starting from a simple model which requires a vision of the complete cyclotron and an integration of all subsystems.

Local Generation of Plasmaspheric Plume Hiss
Abstract The statistical analysis of hiss waves observed in the plasmaspheric plume (Wu et al., 2026, https://doi.org/10.1029/2026gl121667) is significant for identifying nonlinear wave growth processes in the equatorial region. Because nonlinear growth rates greatly exceed linear growth rates, they enable the local generation of new wave packets in ...

An efficient radiosynthesis of fluorine‐18 labeled gluconic acid ([18F]FGA) was developed using two readily available materials, 2‐deoxy‐2‐[18F]fluoro‐D‐glucose ([18F]FDG) and glucose oxidase. [18F]FGA is highly specific for bacterial gluconate metabolism mediated by gluconate permease (GntP) and gluconate kinase (GntK), with rapid clearance, low off ...

Cross‐Scale Energy Transfer at Dipolarization Front in the Earth's Magnetotail
Abstract Dipolarization front (DF) is a key structure for energy conversion and transport in planetary magnetotails. Although multiscale processes have been observed around DFs, quantitative analyses of cross‐scale coupling remain lacking. Here, we calculate cross‐scale transfer rate for different energy channels at a DF using Magnetospheric Multiscale

Abstract The inner radiation belt (L* < 3) has long been considered an impenetrable barrier to ultra‐relativistic electrons. Here we show that this barrier can be breached under extreme space weather conditions. Using continuous near‐equatorial observations from the Arase satellite, we show that the May 2024 superstorm rapidly generated multi‐MeV ...

First Observation of Four‐Band Ion Cyclotron Whistlers
Abstract Ion cyclotron whistlers are frequently observed in low Earth orbit, typically formed when right‐hand polarized lightning whistlers undergo polarization reversal at crossover frequencies. In this study, we for the first time report a four‐band ion cyclotron whistler event detected by Van Allen Probe A.

Study and improvement of the McGill cyclotron.
This thesis is presented in two parts. Part I describes a pulser built for the r.f. oscillator of the McGill synchro-cyclotron. Part II describes the study of the behaviour of the internal circulating proton beam of the cyclotron.

The Evolution of Parallel Electric Field Across the Earth's Magnetosheath
Abstract In Earth's collisionless magnetosheath, turbulence evolution and energy transformation across the system, especially at kinetic scales, remain poorly quantified without full‐coverage of high‐resolution observations. Using multi‐traversal observations from the 2023 and 2024 Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) Unbiased Magnetosheath Campaign, we ...
