Altitude Dependence of Quasi‐Static Potential Drop: The Effect of Ionospheric Protons

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 19, 16 October 2026.
Abstract Using an improved kinetic model that incorporates cold ionospheric protons and oxygen ions, we investigate the factors controlling the altitude range of the auroral acceleration region (AAR). In this model, parallel electric fields are generated via Dispersive Alfven Wave‐ Modified electron Acoustic Wave (DAW‐MEAW) coupling and sustained by ...

Space charge effects and beam halo in a cyclotron

open access: yes, 2002
With the space charge forces considered, simulations of the evolution of the beam bunch in an AVF cyclotron are carried out. The result shows that the deformation of the bunch and the formation of beam halo also take place in a cyclotron.

Molecular Evidence for the Atmospheric Transformation of Trash Burning Aerosol Into Organonitrate‐ and Organosulfate‐Rich Haze: A Case Study From the Eastern Indo‐Gangetic Plain

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 19, 16 October 2026.
Abstract Open burning of solid waste is projected to contribute up to 29% of global anthropogenic PM2.5 emissions, yet its role in secondary aerosol formation remains largely absent from current assessments. Using 21‐T Fourier transform‐ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry, we show that fresh trash burning organic aerosol (tbOA) in the Indo ...

Determination of lattice functions and 2nd-order transfer matrix for High Power Cyclotron [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper describes the development of beam dynamic simulation code for cyclotron. Starting from a description of beam dynamics in the cyclotron, lattice functions were determined and the solutions for the 2nd-order nonlinear Hamiltonian were revised ...

Temperature dependence of polaron cyclotron resonance mass in GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructures

open access: yes, 2000
The temperature dependence of polaron cyclotron resonance mass in GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructures is reinvestigated theoretically. By taking into account the electron-longitudinal-optic phonon interaction with temperature-dependent many-body effects, the ...

The Louvain-la-Neuve injector cyclotron project

open access: yes, 1975
A 70 Q/sup 2//A heavy ion cyclotron is proposed as as injector for cyclone. This two-cyclotron combination will be capable of accelerating high currents of ions with a maximum energy of 27 MeV/a.m.u. up to Neon.

Radioisotope dating with a cyclotron.

open access: yesScience (New York, N.Y.), 1976
By considering radioisotope dating as a problem in trace element detection, and by using the cyclotron as a high-energy mass spectrometer for this purpose, we have shown that one can greatly increase the maximum age that can be determined while simultaneously reducing the size of the sample required.
