Cylindrical nearfield calibration array

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1974
The planar nearfield calibration array (NFCA) has previously been used to determine the farfield radiation of underwater transducers from nearfield measurements. We consider here a cylindrical NFCA constructed from a single line of suitably shaded reciprocal hydrophones.

Cylindrical sonar array

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1989
A cylindrical array employs rectangular planar array segments which extend in the axial direction when assembled on a cylindrical conducting plate having flat longitudinal portions to which the planar array segments are attached. Each planar array segment comprises two columns of planar transducer elements with each column extending in the axial ...

Array gain for a cylindrical array with baffle scatter effects

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2007
Cylindrical arrays used in sonar for passive underwater surveillance often have sensors surrounding a cylindrical metal baffle. In some operational sonars, the phones in each stave (i.e., each line of phones aligned with the cylinder axis) are hardwired together so that the array is equivalent to a baffled circular array of directional elements, where ...

CAD of multilayer conformal cylindrical arrays

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium. 2001 Digest. Held in conjunction with: USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting (Cat. No.01CH37229), 2002
The new trends in the communication market are demanding wider bandwidths and consequently higher frequencies and higher bit rates. The traditional hardware development, based on the manufacture and measurement of test components, is too expensive and time consuming.

Sidelobe control in cylindrical arrays

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1982
Low sidelobe patterns in cylindrical arrays are synthesized through the use of an artificially created noise source environment. Pattern/excitation pairs are generated by an exact formal process which optimizes the array performance. For symmetric patterns this process minimizes the signal-to-noise power ratio. For optimum antisymmetric patterns the on-

A cylindrical spiral patch array

2000 5th International Symposium on Antennas, Propagation, and EM Theory. ISAPE 2000 (IEEE Cat. No.00EX417), 2000
A simplified approach to the analysis of the patterns of a cylindrical spiral patch array is presented. In this approach, the patch element is characterized using the cavity model and the radiation patterns for each element are calculated, assuming it is mounted on a flat surface, while the curvature effects are considered in the patterns of the array.

Experimental adaptive cylindrical array

1999 IEEE Aerospace Conference. Proceedings (Cat. No.99TH8403), 1999
An adaptive antenna places nulls in its antenna pattern in the direction of the interfering sources. Adaptive antennas are a subset of smart antennas, and have received considerable interest in the recent wireless revolution. This paper presents a successful application of a genetic algorithm with an experimental antenna for placing a null in the ...

Numerical synthesis of cylindrical arrays

2012 6th International Conference on Ultrawideband and Ultrashort Impulse Signals, 2012
The authors propose a synthesis method for cylindrical arrays. This method allows the calculation of the required amplitude-phase distribution within a given active sector of the antenna array, taking into account the directional properties of the radiating elements.

Cylindrical Antennas and Arrays

2002
Cylindrical arrays lie at the heart of the antenna systems of most major radio communication systems, including broadcasting networks, cellular 'phone systems and radar. In this book, the authors present practical theoretical methods for determining current distributions, input admittances and field patterns of a wide variety of cylindrical antennas ...

Cylindrical TPV array characterization

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1999
During the past three years, the research staff at Western Washington University’s Vehicle Research Institute has developed a system for characterizing and comparing Thermophotovoltaic (TPV) arrays. The function of this system is to enable the measurement of array power output and efficiency.
