Compressive beamforming on a cylindrical array

Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2016
Previously, we presented subarray compressive beamforming for Doppler sensitive midfrequency active sonar on a cylindrical array, focusing on practical application for mitigating Doppler spreading caused by sidelobes and the width of the main lobe [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 139, 2050 (2016)].

Seafloor mapping with a cylindrical array

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2017
Seafloor mapping is conducted with different types of arrays. Single beam mapping systems are often constructed with piston arrays. Linear arrays are used for both side scan sonar and for multibeam echo sounders. These conventional approaches to seafloor mapping are typically constrained to a single observation of any one point on the seafloor for any ...

Sparse Cylindrical Sonar Arrays

IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering, 2008
Sparse arrays offer a means for reducing the cost and complexity of beamforming systems. Most of the work in the literature has focused on sparse linear arrays with isotropic transducer elements, which simplifies analysis greatly. In this paper, we will focus on multibeam cylindrical arrays using highly directive elements for use in fishery ...

Cylindrical Cochlear Electrode Array for Use in Humans

Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1989
This report describes the fabrication of a flexible multichannel electrode array suitable for use in humans. The conductors, pads, and stimulating tips are made of platinum on a polyimide substrate. Photolithographic techniques are employed in the fabrication of the electrode on a planar surface in the form of a film.

Arrays of Cylindrical Dipoles

1968
In this book, first published in 1968, King and his co-authors develop a theory of the behaviour of arrays of rod-shaped antennas such as are used to achieve directive transmission and reception of radio waves for use in communication between points on the earth, between the earth and a space vehicle, or in radio astronomy.

Printed antenna arrays with cylindrical parabolic reflector

2012 20th Telecommunications Forum (TELFOR), 2012
Concept of design and realization of high gain printed antenna structures is presented. They consist of antenna array, subreflector, feeding network and bal-un, all printed on the same dielectric substrate. Linear array is positioned on the axis focus of the cylindrical parabolic reflector.

Periodic Arrays of Interfacial Cylindrical Reverse Micelles

Langmuir, 2005
We report an approach for the fabrication of periodic molecular nanostructures on surfaces. The approach involves biomimetic self-organization of synthetic wedge-shaped amphiphilic molecules into multilayer arrays of cylindrical reverse micelles. The films were characterized by atomic force microscopy and X-ray reflectivity.

A cylindrical array for the TACAN system

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1974
A new cylindrical array has been developed for the TACAN ground antenna application. The technical requirements are unique since the circumferential radiation pattern is quasi-omnidirectional with multiple lobes and must be rotated at a precise rate. This is accomplished by electronically modulating the azimuth aperture distribution.

A Parallel Miniature Cylindrical Ion Trap Array

Analytical Chemistry, 2000
A small mass spectrometer array is described in which each element is a cylindrical ion trap (CIT). The array contains four CITs, each having an inner radius of 2.5 mm, arranged in parallel and operated using a single electronics system under common conditions for trapping and mass analysis.

Beamforming of Sparse Cylindrical Arrays

2017
As sparse arrays cost fewer elements, they are less expensive than dense arrays and could be applied widely in antenna and sonar deployment, two sparse cylindrical arrays are proposed in this paper. According to the characteristic of cylindrical array, it can be seen as a linear array whose elements are the identical circular arrays.
