Effect of intra-ply voids on the homogenized behavior of a ply in multidirectional laminates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This work focuses on the effect of intra-ply voids on the homogenized nonlinear behavior of a ply in multidirectional composites. Voids were modeled explicitly on the fiber scale and linked to the ply-scale by the recently developed two-scale framework ...

High‐Efficiency CO2 Electrolysis Enabled by Interface‐Engineered Composite Electrolytes in Ni‐Based SOEC

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study addresses the critical issue of delamination between YSZ and GDC electrolytes in SOECs, which is caused by Thermal deformation disparity. A novel YSZ‐GDC composite interlayer, fabricated using a simple dip‐coating method, is introduced to solve this problem. This layer effectively suppresses delamination by mitigating thermal stress.

Delamination failure in a unidirectional curved composite laminate [PDF]

open access: yes
Delamination failure in a unidirectional curved composite laminate was investigated. The curved laminate failed unstably by delaminations developing around the curved region of the laminate at different depths through the thickness until virtually all ...

Cascade‐Responsive MXene@Cu‐MOF Heterostructure Integrates Antioxidant Activity, Infection Control, and Vascularization for Tracheal Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A cascade‐responsive MXene@Cu‐MOF/GelMA hydrogel is engineered as a “skeleton–backpack” platform for extensive tracheal repair. The MXene framework scavenges postoperative ROS and converts NIR light into mild hyperthermia, while the Cu‐MOF component provides pH/NIR‐responsive Cu2+ dosing for infection control, angiogenesis, and chondrogenesis.

Outstanding 1200 °C Oxidation Resistance in a Novel Multi‐Principal Element Alloy via Lattice Distortion‐Induced Diffusion Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The unique lamellar structure of the eutectic alloy promotes selective oxidation of Al initially, while lattice distortion‐induced diffusion suppression slows oxide growth during steady state. Combining these strategies, a Multi‐Principal Element Alloy with excellent oxidation resistance at 1200℃ was designed.

A computational model for the flow of resin in self-healing composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
To explore the flow characteristics of healing agent leaving a vascular network and infusing a damage site within a fibre reinforced polymer composite, a numerical model of healing agent flow from an orifice has been developed using smoothed particle ...
