Nondiffracting vortex-beams in a birefringent chiral crystal

open access: yes, 2009
A vector wave analysis of nondiffracting beams propagating along a birefringent chiral crystal for the case of tensor character both of the optical activity and linear birefringence is presented, fields of eigen modes satisfying vector wave equation.

Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Fully symmetric diffraction-interference beam shaper for radially polarized light on a 1530-nm wavelength [PDF]

open access: yesКомпьютерная оптика, 2019
A completely symmetrical scheme of a shaper of cylindrical vector beams is proposed in which two diffractive axicons and an interference polarizer placed in-between form a sandwich structure of the smallest possible thickness. The design and experimental

The Principle of Strain Reconstruction Tomography: Determination of Quench Strain Distribution from Diffraction Measurements

open access: yes, 2005
Evaluation of residual elastic strain within the bulk of engineering components or natural objects is a challenging task, since in general it requires mapping a six-component tensor quantity in three dimensions.

Intelligent Acousto‐Electrical Metamaterials (IAM) for Sound Source Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Our proposed metamaterial concept enables sound source detection using a single material, in contrast to conventional arrays that require dozens or even hundreds of transducers. We show that the coupled acoustic–vibrational–electrical responses in piezoelectric metamaterials give rise to topology‐governed charge transport, producing distinct voltage ...

Porous Hybrid Soft Actuators From Liquid Crystal Networks and Lyotropic Chromonic Liquid Crystal Templated Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The graphic illustrates the design of a hybrid bilayer composed of a liquid crystal hydrogel (LCH) and a liquid crystal network (LCN). The figure highlights the magnetic alignment of the chromonic hydrogel and the thermal‐responsive actuation of the LCN along with the LCH when both layers are aligned or misaligned, enabling programmable, light‐driven ...

Experimental evidence for new symmetry axis of electromagnetic beams

open access: yes, 2009
The new symmetry axis of a well-behaved electromagnetic beam advanced in paper Physical Review A 78, 063831 (2008) is not purely a mathematical concept.

Topology and Material Optimization in Ultra‐Soft Magneto‐Active Structures: Making Advantage of Residual Anisotropies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Residual magnetization induces pronounced mechanical anisotropy in ultra‐soft magnetorheological elastomers, shaping deformation and actuation even without external magnetic fields. This study introduces a computational‐experimental framework integrating magneto‐mechanical coupling into topology optimization for designing soft magnetic actuators with ...

Resonant Domain Wall Dynamics in a Three‐Dimensional Magnetic Nano Double Helix

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
3D magnetic nanostructures promise exciting possibilities for magnetization dynamics. However, experimental realizations remain scarce. In nanoprinted cobalt double helices, time‐resolved X‐ray microscopy reveals harmonic domain wall dynamics. Simulations identify the mode and additional higher‐frequency resonances, revealing a rich dynamic landscape ...

An Injection-Locked Single-Longitudinal-Mode Fiber Ring Laser With Cylindrical Vector Beam Emission

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2017
We demonstrate a fiber ring laser with narrow bandwidth single-longitudinal-mode cylindrical vector beam (CVB) output at C-band wavelength range for the first time to the best of our knowledge.
