Spectral‐Integrated Thermal Absorption Model for Broadband Laser‐Protective Reflectors Under Supercontinuum Irradiation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A universal laser absorption model based on spectral integration enables the design of ultrabroadband dielectric multilayer reflectors for laser protection. The model reveals exponential decay of absorption characterized by two coefficients, and a design that prioritizes short‐wavelength reflection minimizes heating.

Cylindrical vector beam generator using a two-element interferometer

open access: yesOptics Express, 2019
We realize a robust and compact cylindrical vector beam generator which consists of a simple two-element interferometer composed of a beam displacer and a cube beamsplitter. The interferometer operates on the higher-order Poincare sphere transforming a homogeneously polarized vortex into a cylindrical vector (CV) beam. We experimentally demonstrate the

Competition Between Liquid‐Liquid Crystalline Phase Separation (LLCPS) and Liquid‐Liquid Phase Separation (LLPS) in Amyloid Fibril Colloidal Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that amyloid fibrils form nematic condensates via liquid–liquid crystalline phase separation (LLCPS). With increasing pH, this transition shifts toward disordered condensates formed through liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS), in which birefringence with lack of a coherent nematic field symmetry originates from enthalpic fibril ...

All-Fiber Laser With Intracavity Acousto-Optic Dynamic Mode Converter for Efficient Generation of Radially Polarized Cylindrical Vector Beams

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2017
We report an all-fiber laser that emits a radially polarized cylindrical vector beam (CVB) at 1 μm based on an intracavity acousto-optic mode converter.

High-power femtosecond cylindrical vector beam optical parametric oscillator

open access: yesOptics Express, 2019
We report on high-power femtosecond cylindrical vector beam (CVB) generation from a Gaussian-pumped optical parametric oscillator (OPO). By introducing a half waveplate and a vortex half-wave plate of m = 1 to realize intracavity polarization modulation to the resonant Gaussian signal, the OPO could deliver broadband signal beam in CVB profile, i.e ...

Quantitative Stain Mapping in X‐Ray Virtual Histology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Virtual histology promises 3D tissue examination without physical sectioning, yet has lacked the tissue‐specificity of conventional pathology. This work demonstrates the first quantitative three‐dimensional stain mapping at histologically relevant resolution, separating contrast agent from tissue to reveal cellular features such as nuclei. The approach

Outstanding 1200 °C Oxidation Resistance in a Novel Multi‐Principal Element Alloy via Lattice Distortion‐Induced Diffusion Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The unique lamellar structure of the eutectic alloy promotes selective oxidation of Al initially, while lattice distortion‐induced diffusion suppression slows oxide growth during steady state. Combining these strategies, a Multi‐Principal Element Alloy with excellent oxidation resistance at 1200℃ was designed.

Deformation‐Induced Formation of Stray Grains in Additive Manufacturing of Single Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stray grain formation severely limits the additive manufacturing of single‐crystal alloys. By integrating in situ synchrotron techniques, ex situ characterization, and multi‐scale multi‐physics modeling, the authors reveal that stray grains originate from dislocations at the solid‐liquid interface, rather than thermal supercooling in conventional ...
