The interaction between grass species and climatic season shapes the population dynamics of the cattle tick, Rhipicephalus microplus. This information highlights the potential of forage species to influence off‐host tick dynamics. Additionally, minimum temperature and minimum relative humidity were the most influential microclimatic predictors of ...

Prevalence of peripheral dental caries and diastemata in horses fed high‐carbohydrate diets
Summary Background Peripheral dental caries and diastemata impair equine oral health. Diets rich in soluble carbohydrates are suspected risk factors, but few studies have assessed their impact. In Brazil, sugarcane is widely used as a forage source due to its availability and low cost.

Nutrients removal by Typha latifolia and Cynodon spp. grown in constructed wetlands
The objective of this study was to evaluate the extraction capacity of two species when grown in constructed wetlands with subsurface horizontal flow (SACs) for the treatment of swine wastewater (ARS). To this end, were built 8 SACs of 2.0 m x 0.5 m x 0.6 m, fiber glass, filled with 0.55 m of fine gravels.

Abstract Dietary analysis has contributed to our understanding of animal niches, interspecific interactions, community structure and the flow of matter and energy in food webs. We employed three methods of dietary analysis to estimate trophic niche overlap between two peacock bass species, Cichla cataractae and Cichla ocellaris, across sympatric ...

Abstract Traditionally, turfgrass color has been assessed through visual ratings or light box‐based digital image analysis, methods that are either subjective or labor‐intensive. In this study, we evaluated the potential of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)‐based multispectral and red‐green‐blue (RGB) imagery as a high‐throughput alternative for capturing ...
