Bioavailability of pesticides in freshwater sediments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In ecological risk assessment standardized sediment toxicity tests are used to predict the hazard of chemicals for sediment-living organisms. Feeding is a prerequisite in these long-term tests to avoid starvation of test organisms.

Pesticide prioritization based on risk and model diet proposals for assessing cumulative exposure to pesticide residues in the Brazilian population through food consumption

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 4, Page 3853-3873, April 2026.
A risk classification of registered pesticides in Brazil was conducted, and the contribution of food to cumulative pesticide exposure was evaluated. Model diets were proposed, based on Brazilian consumption patterns. Abstract BACKGROUND Pesticide residue exposure assessments can be carried out during both the pre‐regulation and post‐regulation phases ...

Identification and biochemical characterization of a carboxylesterase gene associated with β-cypermethrin resistance in Dermanyssus gallinae

open access: yesPoultry Science
: Dermanyssus gallinae is a major hematophagous ectoparasite in layer hens. Although the acaricide β-cypermethrin has been used to control mites worldwide, D. gallinae has developed resistance to this compound.

Environmental stress upon hepatopancreatic cells of freshwater prawns (Decapoda: Caridea) from the floodplain of Paraná River [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In order to evaluate the influence of stressed environments on hepatopancreatic cells of freshwater prawns, Macrobachium borellii Nobili, 1896 and Palaemonetes argentinus Nobili 1901, (Crustacea, Decapoda, Palaemonidae) were collected at three different ...

Pesticide Contamination in the Hair of Children From Colonia San Juan, a Rural Community in Paraguay

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, Volume 18, Issue 3, Page 354-369, March 2026.
Hair analysis in children from a rural community in Paraguay reveals exposure to organophosphates, pyrethroids, neonicotinoids, fungicides, herbicides, and endocrine disruptors, highlighting the urgent need for stricter environmental protections and preventive health measures. ABSTRACT Chronic exposure to pesticides can cause carcinogenic, reproductive,

Investigating the Genetic Underpinnings of Ongoing Fall Armyworm (FAW) Range Expansion in Aotearoa New Zealand

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
We generated new genomic resources for the invasion front of fall armyworm in Oceania, confirming that the new invasions conform to the population structure initially identified in Benin. We also identified SNVs associated with insecticide resistance that should be a focus of future tracking of the invasion front and established populations.

Cytotoxicity and Genotoxicity of Cypermethrin in Hepatocarcinoma Cells: A Dose- and Time-Dependent Study

open access: yesDose-Response, 2018
Most of the agricultural workers are potentially exposed to pesticides through different routes. Inhalation exposures may result in numerous diseases that can adversely affect an individual’s health and capacity to perform at work.

Lethal and sub-lethal effects of cypermethrin and glyphosate on the freshwater’s copepod, Acanthocyclops robustus [PDF]

open access: yesInvertebrate Survival Journal, 2017
The study aims to evaluate the acute and chronic toxicity of cypermethrin and glyphosate to a freshwater’s copepod, Arcanthocyclops robustus. The acute sensibility was assessed by estimating lethal concentrations.

Toxicity of cypermethrin and enzyme inhibitor synergists in red hairy caterpillar Amsacta albistriga (Lepidoptera: Arctiidae)

open access: yesJournal of Basic and Applied Zoology, 2020
Background The frequent usage of broad-spectrum insecticides like cypermethrin in agriculture activities could lead to the development of resistance in insects like Amsacta albistriga. Objectives The present study was conducted to understand the toxicity
