Antidiarrhoeal activity of Cyperus rotundus
Fitoterapia, 2006The methanol extract of Cyperus rotundus rhizome, given orally at the doses of 250 and 500 mg/kg b.w., showed significant antidiarrhoeal activity in castor oil induced diarrhoea in mice. Among the fractions, tested at 250 mg/kg, the petroleum ether fraction (PEF) and residual methanol fraction (RMF) were found to retain the activity, the latter being ...

Cyperus rotundus (purple nutsedge).
2021Abstract C. rotundus has been considered as one of the world's worst weeds. It has been reported in more than 90 countries where it grows as a weed infesting at least 52 different crops worldwide (Holm et al. 1977). It grows in all types of soils and can also survive high temperatures. C.

A chemotype of Cyperus rotundus in Hawaii
Phytochemistry, 1989Abstract A new chemotype of Cyperus rotundus was found in Hawaii based on the sesquiterpene composition of the mature tubers. The K-type has higher concentrations of patchoulenyl acetate and sugeonyl acetate than the three known Asian chemotypes. Biochemical and evolutionary aspects of these findings are discussed.

Sesquiterpenoids from Cyperus rotundus
Phytochemistry, 1998Abstract New sesquiterpenoids with 4,5-secoeudesmane and cyperolone carbon skeletons were isolated from Cyperus rotundus , and characterized by spectroscopic analysis. The structures were confirmed by synthesis from (+)-dihydrocarvone and (+)-cyperolone.

Anticariogenic Properties of the Extract ofCyperus rotundus
The American Journal of Chinese Medicine, 2007Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) is known as the causative bacteria in the formation of dental plaque and dental caries. The aim of this experiment was to investigate the effects of Cyperus rotundus (C. rotundus) tuber extract on the growth, acid production, adhesion, and water-insoluble glucan synthesis of S. mutans.

Chemical study of the essential oil of Cyperus rotundus
Phytochemistry, 2001Minor constituents of the essential oil of Cyperus rotundus have been investigated. The three new sesquiterpene hydrocarbons (-)-isorotundene, (-)-cypera-2,4(15)-diene, (-)-norrotundene and the ketone (+)-cyperadione were isolated and their structures elucidated.
