Impact of Anthropogenic Activities and Climate Change on the Wetlands in the North‐West of Madagascar

open access: yesPlant-Environment Interactions, Volume 7, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Macrophytes are vulnerable to various factors in their natural ecosystems, including climatic, ecological, and anthropogenic changes. This study aims to document how these factors influence floristic composition. Four sites were investigated in the Boeny Region of northwest Madagascar: Ambatoboeny, Marovoay, Ankarafantsika National Park, and ...

Beyond Habitat: How Anuran Skin Texture Shapes Plant Dispersal in Neotropical Wetlands

open access: yesFreshwater Biology, Volume 71, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Dispersal is a key process structuring wetland plant communities, yet epizoochory by amphibians remains a little‐known mechanism of passive plant dispersal. This study evaluated the potential role of Neotropical anurans as vectors of plant propagules through external adhesion in coastal wetlands.

Long‐Term Cultivation of Perennial Energy Crops Enhance Ecosystem Multifunctionality on Marginal Red Soil Without Trade‐Offs

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 18, Issue 7, July 2026.
Switchgrass (SG) and Miscanthus (MS) boost ecosystem multifunctionality in marginal soils. Strong synergies, not trade‐offs, exist among ecosystem services under SG and MS. MS surpasses SG in provisioning and supporting services for higher multifunctionality. MS is ideal for maximizing multifunctionality, carbon sequestration, and stability.

Performance of Sprayable Liquid Mulches Based on Industrial By‐Products for Weed Control in Tree Nurseries

open access: yesWeed Research, Volume 66, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
ABSTRACT Sustainable new solutions for controlling weeds in tree nursery production are needed. This study assessed the performance of pyrolysis liquid containing sprayable fibre sludge mulch (FLM) compared with the corresponding peat‐based mulch (PLM) and non‐mulched control in forest tree nursery production.
