Should We Report Incidental Low-Density Liver Lesions with Benign Features? A Retrospective Single-Center Analysis of Trauma CT Scans

open access: yesJournal of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology, 2021
Background Many incidental liver lesions are benign and require no additional workup. Investigation of such lesions can have a negative impact of both the patient and health care system.

Choledochal Cyst

open access: yesSaudi Medical Journal, 2004
Choledochal cyst, which is characterized by dilatation of the biliary ducts, is common in Asian countries, mainly Japan, but relatively rare worldwide. This report describes 2 Saudi female children with choledochal cysts, with emphasis on long term follow-up.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Intracranial neuro-enteric cyst: an illustrative patient and review

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2020
Neuroenteric cysts are embryological remnants. Considered as benign congenital lesion, they can occur in the posterior fossa, along the midline structures.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Ruptured intrathoracic cyst during induction of anaesthesia: Anaesthetic challenges

open access: yesIndian Journal of Anaesthesia, 2015
Congenital benign cysts are among the rare types of mediastinal masses. When symptomatic, complete surgical excision through thoracotomy is the definitive treatment. Rarely they may present with symptoms due to complications like rupture.

Baker's Cyst

open access: yesActa Rheumatologica Scandinavica, 1965
SummaryTwenty-six patients with Baker's cysts have been observed in the period January 1963 to May 1964. Swelling, redness, tenderness and pain in the leg below the cyst was noticed in 11 patients. Seven of these had anti-coagulation treatment before admission.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Combined mutation of Vhl and Trp53 causes renal cysts and tumours in mice

open access: yesEMBO Molecular Medicine, 2013
The combinations of genetic alterations that cooperate with von Hippel–Lindau (VHL) mutation to cause clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) remain poorly understood.
