SUMMARYApocrine cystadenoma presents another distinct clinico‐pathological entity among the appendage tumours. Clinically these small skin coloured, blue or black cysts can usually be distinguished from basal cell carcinoma, melanocytic naevus, or a vascular lesion provided the possible diagnosis is borne in mind.Histologically the picture is quite ...

Retroperitoneal mucinous cystadenoma
Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics, 2003Retroperitoneal mucinous cystadenomas are rare tumors. Only 25 cases have been reported in the English literature until 2002. The histogenesis is unclear, diagnosis is never made preoperatively and surgery is the only treatment. We report an additional case.

A 71-year-old woman, 26 years post-menopause, presented with virilization. Facial hirsuties, non-hereditary frontal balding, voice changes, male escutcheon, and mild clitorimegaly accompanied a right adnexal mass. Blood hormone studies showed testosterone 430 ng/dL, FSH 118 mIU/mL, and LH 210 mIU/mL.

Multiple apocrine cystadenomas
British Journal of Dermatology, 1979A 56-year-old man had approximately forty apocrine cystadenomas of the face and ears. Clinical examination and light microscopic findings were typical for apocrine cystadenomas. Electron microscopic findings showed an absence of annulate lamellae, thus differing from the only previously reported study.

Retroperitoneal mucinous cystadenoma
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1989Twelve cases of retroperitoneal mucinous cystadenoma or mucinous cystadenocarcinoma in women have been reported in the literature. We report an additional case. The histogenesis of mucinous cystadenomas and mucinous cystadenocarcinomas in the retroperitoneum is not clear, but that these lesions may arise from teratomas, ectopic supernumerary or ...

An apocrine cystadenoma was examined with the electron microscope. Two types of cells were identified: secretory cells and basal (myoepithelial) cells. The secretory cells showed abundant granules that had the features of lipid droplets. The lumen of the cyst contained fragments of cytoplasm that appeared to be detached from the apical portions of the ...
