Cellular Uptake of Cystatin C. Subcellular localisation and intracellular effects of a secreted cysteine protease inhibitor [PDF]
Cystatin C is a cysteine protease inhibitor, aimed for secretion, as it is produced with a signal peptide. Its target enzymes are thought to be the lysosomal cysteine cathepsins and legumain. Cystatin C has been considered to excert its enzyme inhibiting

Objective: We aimed to compare the diagnostic efficiency of cystatin C with traditional kidney markers in preeclampsia and to evaluate the relationship of these markers with neutrophil-lymphocyte and thrombocyte-lymphocyte ratios.

Sex‐specific associations of Roseburia with uric acid metabolism and hyperuricemia risk in females
Researchers recruited 623 participants, including 270 females, and used 16S rDNA sequencing to investigate gender differences in hyperuricemia. In healthy females, Roseburia was enriched, positively correlating with estrogen and negatively with uric acid, suggesting it is a potential biomarker affecting uric acid levels in females.

On the C*-envelope of approximately finite-dimensional operator algebras [PDF]
The C*-envelope of the limit algebra (or limit space) of a contractive regular system of digraph algebras (or digraph spaces) is shown to be an approximately finite C*-algebra and the direct system for the C*-envelope is determined explicitly.

Prevalence and Risk Factors for Augmented Renal Clearance in Neurocritical Ill Patients
Augmented renal clearance is prevalent in critically neurological patients. Age is likely to significantly influence renal clearance in this population, especially patients with low Scr and cystatin C levels should be given more attention. ABSTRACT Background Augmented renal clearance (ARC) refers to a phenomenon in critically ill patients ...

On the Realization of quantum gates coming from the Tracy-Singh product [PDF]
The Tracy-Singh product of matrices permits to construct a new gate $c \boxtimes c'$ from two $2$-qudit gates $c$ and $c'$. If $c$ and $c'$ are both Yang-Baxter gates, then $c \boxtimes c'$ is also a Yang-Baxter gate, and if at least one of them is entangling, then $c \boxtimes c'$ is also entangling.
