Hormonal Regulation of Expression of Two Cysteine Endopeptidase Genes in Rice Seedlings [PDF]

open access: yesPlant and Cell Physiology, 1997
Two cDNA probes (pRP60 and pRP80) were used to examine the hormonal regulation of expression of two cysteine endopeptidase genes in germinated whole seeds and de-embryonated seeds of rice. The pRP60 protein is a major rice cysteine endopeptidase named REP-1 that digests rice glutelin, the main seed storage protein.

Substrate specificity and structural investigation into PepO and PepW : two peptidases from Lactobacillus rhamnosus : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Biochemistry at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The proteolytic systems of lactic acid bacteria have important roles in the maturation and flavour development of cheese. Lactic acid bacteria pepetidases contribute to the taste of cheese through the production of low-molecular weight peptides and free ...

Exploring the mialome of ticks: An annotated catalogue of midgut transcripts from the hard tick, Dermacentor variabilis (Acari: Ixodidae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background Ticks are obligate blood feeders. The midgut is the first major region of the body where blood and microbes ingested with the blood meal come in contact with the tick's internal tissues.

Recombinant expression and functional analysis of proteases from Streptococcus pneumoniae, Bacillus anthracis, and Yersinia pestis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background Uncharacterized proteases naturally expressed by bacterial pathogens represents important topic in infectious disease research, because these enzymes may have critical roles in pathogenicity and cell physiology.

Proteomic signatures of equine dental tooth tissues in ageing and disease

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Ageing and dental disease in horses lead to structural and functional deterioration of dental tissues, yet their molecular signatures remain poorly characterised. Understanding how these processes alter the protein composition of enamel, dentin, cementum and pulp is essential for improving equine oral health and identifying ...

Structural modeling and functional analysis of the essential ribosomal processing protease Prp from Staphylococcus aureus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In Firmicutes and related bacteria, ribosomal large subunit protein L27 is encoded with a conserved N-terminal extension that is removed to expose residues critical for ribosome function. Bacteria encoding L27 with this N-terminal extension also encode a

Binuclear Copper‐Dependent Oxidative Enzymes Involved in Fungal Natural Product Modifications

open access: yesJournal of the Chinese Chemical Society, EarlyView.
This article summarizes recent biochemical characterizations of a new enzyme family named by the authors as binuclear copper‐dependent oxidative enzymes (BiNCOs). Found in fungal natural product biosynthesis, BiNCOs catalyze diverse CH functionalization reactions, including C(sp3)H halogenation, C(sp3)H hydroxylation, C(sp3)O macrocyclization, and ...

CHANGES IN LEVELS OF ACTIVITY OF SERINE PROTEASES ACCOMPANY THE EXPOSURE OF COMMON BEAN (PHASEOLUS VULGARIS L.) TO WATER DEFICIT [PDF]

open access: yesPoljoprivreda, 2008
A wide variety of proteolytic enzymes exist in plants. On their levels depends protein turnover, a fundamental component in plant development and adaptation to environmental conditions. Cysteine proteases have frequently been reported to be influenced by
