Cholecystoduodenal Fistula, Gallstone Ileus, and Choledocholithiasis: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Prompt diagnosis using CT is critical in gallstone ileus, as symptoms are often nonspecific. A combined surgical approach—comprising enterolithotomy, cholecystectomy, and fistula repair—effectively addresses both the obstruction and its underlying source, achieving favorable outcomes even in complex presentations.

Seven‐Year Delayed Diagnosis of a Giant Suprasellar Arachnoid Cyst Presenting With Progressive Gait Disturbance: Successful Endoscopic Ventriculocystocisternostomy—A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Suprasellar arachnoid cysts are uncommon pediatric lesions that may cause obstructive hydrocephalus and optic pathway compromise, often with insidious clinical progression. We report an 11‐year‐old boy who presented with a 7‐year history of progressive gait disturbance and imbalance.

Ileoileocolic Type Intussusception With Double Enhanced Layer Sign in a Pediatric Patient: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
The apparent double–layered enhancement represents hemorrhage within the necrotic inner layer, causing high attenuation, while the outer layer shows true contrast enhancement of the viable bowel wall. ABSTRACT Ileoileocolic intussusception can present without classic ultrasonographic target signs.

Axial Connectivity of the Lung Microbiome: A Review of Interorgan Crosstalk

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 5, October 2026.
The human microbiome mediates immune homeostasis and metabolic signaling across organs. Beyond the gut‐lung axis, crosstalk between the lung and other organ systems is less recognized. This review assesses the axial connectivity of the lung microbiome across the gut, brain, skin, heart, kidney, and liver.

Context‐dependent TREM2 signalling in myeloid cells: Molecular mechanisms and immunotherapeutic divergence in neurodegeneration and cancer

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2026.
Divergent triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) signalling pathways instruct myeloid cell adaptation towards neuroprotective disease‐associated microglia (DAM)/lipid‐associated macrophage (LAM) or immunosuppressive tumour‐associated macrophage (TAM) phenotypes.

A single‐cell census of pulmonary endarterectomies tissue across different anatomical regions in chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2026.
This study provides the first intra‐individual, regional single‐cell comparison of main/lobar versus bifurcate pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA) specimens. It reveals distinct macrophage polarisation, divergent T‐cell compositions and pronounced smooth muscle cell (SMC)‐to‐myofibroblast transition in the bifurcate region. These findings highlight regional

Submental Approach Robotic‐Assisted Neck Dissection (SARAND) for Minimally Invasive Bilateral Neck Dissection: A Feasibility Cadaver Dissection Study

open access: yesHead &Neck, Volume 48, Issue 10, Page 2934-2942, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Following promising initial results of the robotic‐assisted extended “Sistrunk” approach (RESA) that uses a submental incision to hypopharyngeal and laryngeal tumors, bypassing the base of tongue, we report its further development: submental approach robotic‐assisted neck dissection (SARAND), intended to enable bilateral neck ...

An Unwelcome Cystic Artery

Australian and New Zealand Journal of Surgery, 1970
This article describes an anatomical variation of the cystic artery which is believed not to have been previously reported. The abnormality consisted of 12 or more sizable branches arising from its posterior division and supplying the posterior inferior segment of the right lobe of the liver. The surgical implications of this abnormality are discussed.
