Revealing the toxicity mechanisms and potential targets of PM2.5-induced different types of cystitis based on Mendelian randomization and network toxicology

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
The current study explored the potential toxic mechanisms and targets of PM2.5-induced different types of cystitis by using Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis and network toxicology.

Automated Detection of Cystitis in Ultrasound Images Using Deep Learning Techniques

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
The proposed method aims to estimate the urinary Bladder Wall Thickness (BWT) from ultrasound (US) images to detect cystitis. Our method proposes a novel deep learning algorithm that segments the Bladder Wall from the ultrasound images of the urinary ...

Botulinum Toxin A for Bladder Pain Syndrome/Interstitial Cystitis

open access: yes, 2017
Botulinum neurotoxin A (BoNT-A), derived from Clostridium botulinum, has been used clinically for several diseases or syndrome including chronic migraine, spasticity, focal dystonia and other neuropathic pain. Chronic pelvic or bladder pain is the one of

Neuronal Dual Leucine Zipper Kinase Mediates Inflammatory and Nociceptive Responses in Cyclophosphamide-Induced Cystitis

open access: yesJournal of Innate Immunity, 2021
Interstitial cystitis is associated with neurogenic inflammation and neuropathic bladder pain. Dual leucine zipper kinase (DLK) expressed in sensory neurons is implicated in neuropathic pain.

Mucoadhesive Peptide‐Catalase Self‐Assembled Nano‐Formulation for Effective Treatment of Mucosal Inflammatory Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CR8L10 is self‐assembled with catalase (CAT) to form CR8L10@CAT nanocomplexes, which can anchor to mucosal surfaces via thiol‐disulfide exchange with mucin, thereby enhancing their mucosal retention. The efficient reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging at inflamed sites would then result in successful treatment in both the intravesical IC/BPS model ...

Calcitonin gene‐related peptide concentration in cerebrospinal fluid and serum in horses affected by trigeminal‐mediated headshaking

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Trigeminal‐mediated headshaking (TMHS) in horses shares clinical features with human trigeminal neuralgia (HTN). Increased levels of the neuropeptide calcitonin gene‐related peptide (CGRP) have been found in the blood and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of HTN patients. Inhibition of CGRP in humans has shown promise for pain relief.

Understanding mechanisms of Ketamine-induced human urinary tract damage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Ketamine is a phencyclidine derivative N-Methyl D-Aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist used as an anaesthetic and analgesic. A florid non-bacterial cystitis condition known as ketamine-induced cystitis (KIC) has recently been reported in abusers and ...
