Cytogenetic analysis in congenital hypothyroidism
Journal of Endocrinological Investigation, 1990In order to evaluate the possible role of genetic factors in the pathogenesis of congenital hypothyroidism (CH), we investigated the occurrence of chromosome aberrations in a consecutive series of 47 patients with CH and 208 matched healthy controls. No abnormal karyotype was found in CH patients.

Interphase cytogenetic analysis of gliomas
Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery, 1992Interphase cytogenetics is the application of nonradioactive in situ hybridization with chromosome-specific DNA probes to interphase nuclei. The possibilities and limitations of this new technique for the study of chromosomal aberrations in gliomas are discussed.

Cytogenetic analysis of renal angiomyolipoma
Genes, Chromosomes and Cancer, 1992AbstractChromosome analysis of a benign, unilateral, renal angiomyolipoma revealed the karyotype 44,XX, –8, –12, –14, –21, + der (8q14q), + der(12)(12pter → 12q14‐15:: 12q24 → 12q14–15::21q21 → 21 qter). This indicates that structural changes of 12q13‐15, which are so frequently observed in the common malignant and benign lipogenic tumors, may also ...

Cytogenetic Analysis of Cell Lines
2004Cytogenetic analysis forms an essential part of characterizing and identifying cell lines, in particular those established from tumors. In addition, karyotypic analysis can be used to distinguish individual subclones and to monitor stability. This chapter describes basic cytogenetic procedures suited to cells in continuous culture.

Cytogenetic analysis in melanoma and nevi
1991We have presented data from the cytogenetic analysis of melanocytes derived from four dysplastic nevi and 14 melanomas. We have confirmed previous results from melanomas, including the loss of chromosome 6q and duplication of 1q and 7p. We did not observe an excess of rearrangements involving chromosomes 2 and 3, but we found frequent deletion of ...

Cytogenetic analysis of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans
Cancer Genetics and Cytogenetics, 1990A case of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans that occurred in an old burn scar over the anterior chest wall of a 46-year-old man is reported. Cytogenetic analysis of the tumor cells showed the presence of two abnormal clones: 47,XY, +8 and 48,XY, +8, +r.

Primary synovial sarcoma rarely originates in the renal parenchyma. When this occurs, origin of this unusual tumor type has been the subject of debate in the literature, with a suggestion that previously reported cases may be more correctly described as ...

Techniques for Cytogenetic Analysis
1978This chapter is essentially a compilation of techniques for the preparation of mitotic and meiotic chromosomes from a variety of starting materials. Section I deals with what I consider to be the ideal technique for karyotypic analysis: the preparation of mitotic chromosomes from cultured cells of fetal origin.
