Cytokinins

Current Biology, 2023
The extraordinary variety that characterizes the living world in terms of forms and structures is the result of natural selection that allows an organism to be in perfect harmony with its environmental niche. Once a specific shape is acquired, many different factors act together to guarantee phenotypic robustness and developmental stability of the ...

Cytokinin signaling

Current Opinion in Plant Biology, 2005
Cytokinins influence many aspects of plant growth and development. The current model for cytokinin signaling is a multi-step phosphorelay similar to the prokaryotic two-component systems that are used in responses to environmental stimuli. Recently, progress has been made in improving our understanding of the molecular mechanism that underlies ...

Cytokinin Signaling Networks

Annual Review of Plant Biology, 2012
Despite long-standing observations on diverse cytokinin actions, the discovery path to cytokinin signaling mechanisms was tortuous. Unyielding to conventional genetic screens, experimental innovations were paramount in unraveling the core cytokinin signaling circuitry, which employs a large repertoire of genes with overlapping and specific functions ...

Cytokinin–auxin crosstalk

Trends in Plant Science, 2009
Post-embryonic plant growth and development are sustained by meristems, a source of undifferentiated cells that give rise to the adult plant structures. Two hormones, cytokinin and auxin, are known to act antagonistically in controlling meristem activities.

Capillary electrophoresis of cytokinins and cytokinin ribosides

Journal of Chromatography A, 1997
A CE separation of cytokinins and cytokinin ribosides and some other purine and pyrimidine bases has been developed. Two electrolyte systems have been tested: 150 mM phosphoric acid, pH 1.8 and 50 mM sodium dodecylsulphate + 20 mM borate, pH 9.2. The migration times were measured and the effects of the solute structures were discussed.

Cytokinin signaling

Current Opinion in Plant Biology, 1998
Although cytokinin plays a central role in plant development, our knowledge of the biosynthesis, distribution, perception and signal transduction of cytokinin is limited. Recent molecular-genetic studies have, however, implicated involvement of a two-component system in cytokinin signal transduction.

Plant cytokinin signalling

Essays in Biochemistry, 2015
Cytokinin is an essential plant hormone that is involved in a wide range of plant growth and developmental processes which are controlled through its signalling pathway. Cytokinins are a class of molecules that are N6-substituted adenine derivatives, such as isopentenyl adenine, and trans- and cis-zeatin, which are common in most plants. The ability to
