The phosphorylation status of the WRKY transcription factor WRKY10/MINI3, controls the timing of endosperm cellularization in Arabiopsis, thus regulating final seed size, offering a molecular understanding that could inform future agricultural breeding strategies. ABSTRACT Seed size is a critical factor in determining crop yield.

The tomato mars1/rough mutant displays enhanced root regeneration and rough fruits due to ectopic cell proliferation. The causal gene encodes a lysine‐specific histone demethylase that normally maintains gene silencing. Its loss alters histone methylation, upregulating several genes, including those B‐type cyclins involved in tissue‐specific cellular ...

Natural variation in the GNH1 promoter enhances plant height and grain yield in rice
Natural variation in the GRAIN NUMBER AND PLANT HEIGHT 1 (GNH1) promoter alleviates repression by the C2H2‐type transcription factor ZFP36, upregulating GNH1 expression and promoting auxin accumulation, thereby increasing rice plant height and grain yield. This elite allele serves as a valuable genetic resource for molecular breeding of high‐yield rice.

C‐type cyclin CycC1;1 delays leaf senescence by interacting with and inhibiting MYC2 in Arabidopsis
The C‐type cyclin CycC1;1 interacts with MYC2 and MED25 to block their association and RNA polymerase II recruitment, thereby repressing senescence‐associated gene expression and delaying leaf senescence in Arabidopsis. Unlike jasmonic acid‐inducible JAZ repressors, CycC1;1 operates independently of jasmonic acid signaling, representing an ...

The roads most traveled: genetic convergence in plant repeated evolution
Observation of a genotype–phenotype association in a focal lineage (magnifying lens) provides a starting point for predicting homolog reuse during repeated trait evolution. This review suggests that the likelihood that mutations in homologous genes contribute to similar phenotypes in other lineages depends on both mutational effect stability (MES) and ...

Despite long-standing observations on diverse cytokinin actions, the discovery path to cytokinin signaling mechanisms was tortuous. Unyielding to conventional genetic screens, experimental innovations were paramount in unraveling the core cytokinin signaling circuitry, which employs a large repertoire of genes with overlapping and specific functions ...

microRNA‐mediated control of cell fate specification and patterning in Marchantia polymorpha
The gemma developmental program in Marchantia polymorpha is coordinated by MpMIR166‐mediated repression of MpC3HDZ and auxin homeostasis. Summary MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non‐coding RNA molecules essential for growth and development in eukaryotes. In plants, the master gene DICER‐LIKE 1 (DCL1) catalyzes the biogenesis of miRNAs by processing double‐

Maize regeneration via somatic embryogenesis by ectopic expression of morphogenic factors TaGRF4‐TaGIF1 and ZmBBM. Summary Transformation is an indispensable tool for plant genetics and functional genomics. Although stable transformation in maize is no longer a major obstacle, there remains a need for accessible and efficient methods for academic ...

A Novel AP2/ERF Transcription Factor Controls Trichome Initiation and Fruit Development in Cucumber
ABSTRACT Trichomes, the hair‐like outgrowths of the plant epidermis, are critical for defence, reproduction and development. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms governing their initiation remain elusive. Here, we identified CsGL2, an AP2/ERF transcription factor, as a key integrator controlling trichome initiation and fruit development in ...
