Mini Review: Highlight of Recent Advances and Applications of MALDI Mass Spectrometry Imaging in 2024

open access: yesAnalytical Science Advances, Volume 6, Issue 1, June 2025.
Abstract Matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionisation mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI‐MSI) is an emerging imaging tool that allows visualisation of hundreds of analytes unbiasedly in a single experiment. This paper highlights the adaptations of MALDI‐MSI in different context in 2024, such as clinical diagnostic, pharmacology, forensics applications ...

Introgression of genes associated with yield enhancement and resistance against bacterial leaf blight and blast diseases into an elite rice variety, Jaya

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 18, Issue 2, June 2025.
Abstract Developing rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivars with resistance to bacterial leaf blight (BLB) and blast is crucial for ensuring food security, as these diseases can cause significant yield losses. Additionally, enhancing yield potential in these resistant cultivars can maximize productivity and meet the growing demand for rice; therefore ...

Exploring the multifaceted dynamics of flowering time regulation in field crops: Insight and intervention approaches

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 18, Issue 2, June 2025.
Abstract The flowering time (FTi) plays a critical role in the reproductive success and yield of various crop species by directly impacting both the quality and quantity of grain yield. Achieving optimal FTi is crucial for maximizing reproductive success and ensuring overall agricultural productivity.

Characterization of wheat oligo‐tiller mutant ot2 and fine mapping of the mutant gene Taot2

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 18, Issue 2, June 2025.
Abstract Tiller number is a crucial determinant of grain yield in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), and identifying functional alleles can enhance our understanding of wheat tiller development. Here, we describe the ot2 wheat mutant, which exhibits a 91% reduction in tiller number compared to the wild type and displays inhibited tiller bud differentiation ...

Rhizosphere Microbiome Diversity Potentially Supports Robust Nature of Field Pennycress (Thlaspi arvense L.) in Dryland Cropping Systems of Eastern Washington

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 17, Issue 6, June 2025.
Field pennycress (Thlaspi arvense L.) is an emerging oilseed cash and intermediate crop, exhibiting an incredibly robust nature against abiotic stress such as cold and drought. The rhizosphere microbiome may be a source of such resilience with a diverse array of plant growth‐promoting microorganisms.

How eriophyid mites shape metal metabolism in leaf galls on Tilia cordata

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 246, Issue 5, Page 2222-2242, June 2025.
Summary Metal metabolism in plant–galler interactions is largely unknown. We hypothesise that the mites manipulate metal distribution by sequestration of excessive levels and differential regulation of metalloproteins to support the main functions of gall‐nutrition, protection and microenvironment.

Unlocking agro‐ecosystem sustainability: exploring the bottom‐up effects of microbes, plants, and insect herbivores

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, Volume 20, Issue 3, Page 465-484, May 2025.
Microorganism‐released metabolites, proteins, or toxins modulate plant‐based targets to regulate physiological processes such as phytohormone and nutrition balance and stress resistance. Microbes that affect plant physiological processes regulate the visual, olfactory, and gustatory cues associated with plants to attract or repel insect herbivores and ...
