Comparison of fluorescence in situ hybridisation using peptide nucleic acid probes, Gram stain/acridine orange leukocyte cytospin and differential time to positivity methods for detection of catheter-related bloodstream infection in patients after haematopoietic stem cell transplantation

open access: yes, 2010
In 46 febrile neutropenic patients who had undergone haematopoietic stem cell transplantation, the fluorescence in situ hybridisation using peptide nucleic acid probes (PNA FISH), Gram stain/acridine orange leukocyte cytospin (Gram/AOLC), and ...

Primary Central Nervous System Melanoma Masquerading as Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: A Case Report

open access: yesActa Neurologica Taiwanica
Primary central nervous system (CNS) malignant melanoma is a rare occurrence that can mimic subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) on imaging. We present the case of a patient with primary CNS melanoma presenting as an SAH.

Immunostaining of EpCAM and Vimentin for cultured cells after different cell transfer and fixation methods.

open access: yes, 2015
EpCAM was shown as green signals and Vimentin was shown as red signals. Exposure time and magnification of images were the same for each method. Based on the same fixation, EpCAM signals by direct transfer were stronger than those by Cytospin.

BAL Cell Counts.

open access: yes, 2013
Panel A depicts the average cell counts +/− SEM from BAL supernatants for each group of mice. Total cells were counted using Erythrosin B stained under light microscopy. Cell differentials were done using cytospin slides of the BAL stained with Dif-Quik.
