Transition‐Metal Azo Schiff Base Complexes: Nonlinear Optics Across Solutions, Thin Films and Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 30, October 24, 2025.
The excitation of a transition‐metal azo Schiff‐base complex with a 1064 nm laser induces a series of nonlinear optical effects. These effects include the second harmonic generation at 532 nm and third harmonic generation at 355 nm. This process demonstrates the potential of the complex for high‐order nonlinear optical applications. Abstract This paper

Antioxidant Properties of Food‐Derived Lactic Acid Bacteria: A Review

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 18, Issue 9, September 2025.
The graphical abstract shows an example of the division of the mechanisms of action of lactic acid bacteria in the context of antioxidant properties. Point 1 describes the scavenging of free radicals. Point 2 describes the chelation of metal ions. Point 3 describes the accumulation of manganese and the production of antioxidant enzymes.

Applying sterols and bile acids as biomarkers for identifying human versus wild animals' faecal traces in cave sediments at archaeological sites

open access: yesArchaeometry, Volume 67, Issue 4, Page 1022-1039, August 2025.
Abstract Faecal biomarkers are used to trace and identify the source of faecal matter at various types of archaeological sites. Until now, the focus has been centred on humans and domesticated animals. However, in caves, it's wild animals that play a role in the deposition of organic matter.

The first isotopic evidence of Early Iron Age lead ore exploitation in the Silesian‐Krakow upland, Poland: a provenance study of Lusatian culture lead ornaments

open access: yesArchaeometry, Volume 67, Issue 3, Page 552-569, June 2025.
Abstract The Bronze and Early Iron Ages witnessed a significant increase in trade relations driven by the search for valuable metals. This paper presents new insights into the use of galena from the Silesia and Krakow Upland region in southern Poland, known as the ‘Olkusz ore deposits’, within the context of metal ores in prehistoric Europe.
