Epigenetic siliceous rocks from the southern part of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland (Southern Poland) and their relation to Upper Jurassic early diagenetic chert concretions

open access: yes, 2020
The epigenetic siliceous rocks (ESR) are common in the southern part of the Krakow-Czestochowa Upland where they are hosted in Upper Jurassic microbial-sponge megafacies as: (i) coatings on the surfaces of fractures and faults, (ii) irregular bodies ...

Phosphoric Acid Versus Biogenic Mineralization of Hydroxyapatite and Carbonate Apatite in Relation to Infection‐Induced Urinary Stones: Physical, Chemical and Microbiological Aspects

open access: yesChemPlusChem, Volume 90, Issue 5, May 2025.
Phosphoric acid is used in various products like food, sweets, beers, and soft drinks. Higher phosphoric acid concentration in urine accelerates the formation of carbonate apatite and hydroxyapatite, which are key components of infection urinary stones, a negative effect. However, the amount of these solid phases is smaller, which is beneficial.

Behaviour Based Safety (BBS) - Advantages and Criticism

open access: yesProduction Engineering Archives, 2018
Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) is a popular approach to enhancing occupational safety, with many researchers reporting successes of implementing BBS programs. There are, however, studies that see this approach as illusory, bringing more harm than good. The

The Effect of Aluminium on Graphitization of Cast Iron Treated with Cerium Mixture

open access: yesArchives of Foundry Engineering, 2014
The work determined the influence of aluminium in the amount from about 0.6% to about 8% on graphitization of cast iron with relatively high silicon content (3.4%-3.9%) and low manganese content (about 0.1%).

Elucidations of electronic and optical properties of the w‐ZnCh (Ch=O, S and Se) compounds: Insights from Ab‐initio calculations and spectroscopy measurements

open access: yesIET Optoelectronics, Volume 18, Issue 6, Page 188-218, December 2024.
The authors’ research study employs full‐potential (linearised) augmented plane wave (FP‐(L)APW) calculations alongside experimental techniques to elucidate the band structures, dielectric functions, and other significant optical parameters of w‐ZnO, w‐ZnS, and w‐ZnSe. The band gap values derived theoretically, 2.72 eV for w‐ZnO, 3.87 eV for w‐ZnS, and
